The PGA Tour takes center stage this weekend with a loaded field ready to go at iconic Riviera Country Club for the Genesis Invitational. This was already one of the most anticipated events on the daily fantasy sports and golf betting calendar before the Friday news dumps of all Friday news dumps – Tiger Woods tweeted he’ll be teeing it up, setting off a thrilling week of golf.

Woods hasn’t played a non-major Tour event since the 2020 ZOZO Championship, where he logged a T-72 finish. He played three majors last year, finishing solo 47th at the Masters before an injury WD at the PGA Championship and missed cut at the British Open.

This is where it all began for Woods back in 1992, when he made his Tour debut as a 16-year-old amateur at Riviera. Somehow, he’s still searching for his first career win at Riv – he’s played here 14 times without a victory, more than any other tournament, and his last top-10 at this course came in 2004. He finished 68th the last time he teed it up at this event and will give it another go to kick off his 2023 season, which by all accounts will be limited to a handful of starts.

Woods’ presence takes things up another level, but the entire course will be buzzing Thursday-Sunday as the best in the world tee it up in Los Angeles.

Last Week: The Waste Management Phoenix Open didn’t disappoint, with Scottie Scheffler topping an A-list leaderboard as hundreds of thousands gathered to pound drinks and take in some desert golf. Scheffler was priced at $10,300 on DraftKings DFS and shot 6-under 65 in the final round for a two-shot win over Nick Taylor, who provided serious lineup value with a solo-second finish at $6,500 for the week. Betting favorite Jon Rahm finished third at 14-under, while Justin Thomas (-13) and Jason Day (-12) rounded out the top five.

2023 Genesis Invitational DFS Picks By Price

11K-9K Range Genesis Invitational DFS Picks

Xander Schauffele, $9,900: Schauffele seems right on the cusp of his first win since the Scottish Open last July. Over his last three stars he’s gone T-3 at the American Express, T-13 at Torrey Pines and T-10 last week in Phoenix. He’s also been remarkably consistent at Riviera, where he’s finished T-23 or better in all five starts. Schauffele currently has 11 consecutive rounds of even par or better at Riv, one of the toughest courses on Tour. If he starts making putts the rest of the field will be playing catch-up. We like Schauffele on top of the lineup this week.

Sungjae Im, $9,400: Im’s track record isn’t great here – he missed the cut his first two tries in 2019-2020 before a T-33 finish last year. But we suspect this will be a great course for Im once he figures it all out, and lack of experience accounted for the MCs more than anything. He seemed to do that last year with a second-round 66 and final-round 67, and we expect him to contend. Im is an all-around elite player and he’s coming off back-to-back top-10s at Torrey Pines and TPC Scottsdale. This should be another great start.

9K-8K Range Genesis Invitational DFS Picks

Cameron Young, $8,800: Young didn’t make any noise in Phoenix, struggling with the short game en route to a 67th-place finish. But that came on the heels of a long trip back from the Saudi International, where Young finished second. It’s a much shorter flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles and Young is arriving at a course where he fired a second-round 61 and finished T-2 last year in his Genesis debut. Overall, Young has made 12 consecutive cuts dating back to the 2022 Scottish Open. He also has four top-3 finishes in that stretch and might end up looking like the bargain of the tournament come Sunday.

Matt Fitzpatrick, $8,500: This is quite a price for the reigning British Open champ, but Fitzpatrick hasn’t been playing well enough to warrant top dollar. That could change this week. The irons were an absolute mess when he missed the cut at Pebble Beach, but he looked a lot sharper in a ho-hum T-29 finish in Phoenix. He’s been one of the most consistent irons players in the world recently and that always plays at Riv, where Fitzpatrick finished T-30 in his debut and T-5 his last time out in 2021. This will be a great test for Fitzpatrick’s game as he starts to tune it up for the majors. We think he’ll pass it and then some.

8K-7K Range Genesis Invitational DFS Picks

Si Woo Kim, $7,900: Kim is clearly making an effort to hit more fairways in 2023. His efforts have been paying off so far. Kim is currently 14th in driving accuracy, which wasn’t exactly a strength of his off the tee in recent years. He’s sacrificing a bit of distance and that’s alright, especially around this difficult of a course. And the irons have stayed sharp, with Kim 17th on Tour in Strokes Gained Approach. This hasn’t been a good course for him traditionally, with four missed cuts in seven starts. But he did finish solo third in 2019 and the game is trending in a great direction this year. We’re gonna give Kim a touch, and he might be off the radar a bit due to poor course history.

Corey Conners, $7,600: Here’s another guy who could turn things around at Riviera after some rough starts. He’s missed the cut in all three appearances here, but never egregiously. He shot 72-71 in Rounds 1 and 2 each of the past two years, and he’s playing better right now with six top-25s in his last seven starts. He’s finished with positive Strokes Gained numbers in every start dating back to the Fortinet Championship last September, and this is a ballstrikers course. We’ll take a shot on Conners in the mid-range.

7K and Below Genesis Invitational DFS Picks

Adrian Meronk, $6,900: We’re gonna try to catch Meronk while he’s still enjoying a massive heater. The 29-year-old has been tearing it up on the European Tour, with four top 10s and a win in his last six starts. He won the Australian Open in December and followed with a T-10 in Abu Dhabi and a T-4 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. The putter has been on fire and Meronk keeps it in the fairway. All good things. He doesn’t have any course experience here, which isn’t great. But we’ll comfort ourselves by saying he doesn’t have any scar tissue and should be fired up for a massive opportunity.

Luke List, $6,800: Looks like it’s a Love it or List it week for us. We can’t say we love List, but we like him compared to others in this price range. He absolutely bombs it off the tee and has been keeping it in the fairway in recent weeks. He logged an impressive T-25 at Torrey Pines before missing the cut last week in Phoenix, where he just couldn’t get any putts to fall. The course history is solid as well – List missed the cut here in 2021 and 2022, but he shot a respectable 1-over both years. He was also T-30 or better in four of his five prior starts at Riv. List always feels like a gamble, but it’s a sensible one this week.
