NASCAR’s premier series has competed once before at Road America, but that event doesn’t give bettors at online sportsbooks much to go on — it came in 1956, when Tim Flock won. So for all practical purposes, this track, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, is another new circuit on which few current drivers have any real relevant experience.
But it’s also a road course event, so we know what that means: Chase Elliott atop the NASCAR odds board. Over the past three seasons the Hendrick Motorsports driver has won six of 11 road course starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, with top-five results in two more.
Of perhaps even greater importance for NASCAR betting: Elliott has twice won inaugural road course events in the series — the Daytona road circuit in 2020 and Circuit of the Americas earlier this season. Road America pretty much fits that category. No offense to Tim Flock.
Drivers will have the benefit of both a Saturday practice session and Sunday morning qualifying, giving bettors some idea of the cars to beat. Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch are adding a little extra track time by running in Saturday’s Xfinity Series event. But barring something unforeseen, the eyes of NASCAR bettors will most certainly focus on Elliott, as they have for every road course race over the last three years.

Kyle Larson to Win
Odds: +350 at FanDuel
In the most recent road course event in NASCAR, Elliott finished second — behind his teammate Larson, who’d have four victories in his last five starts if not for a flat tire on the final lap last Saturday at Pocono. Larson’s win at Sonoma in early June was an eye-opener; he led 19 of the final 21 laps while keeping Elliott, the best road racer of his generation, at bay.
Larson’s odds to win at betting websites are also the most favorable bettors have seen for a points race since Sonoma. When you get those kinds of numbers on the best driver in the sport, you take them. Given that two oval tracks are next on the schedule, it might be August before bettors again see Larson carrying odds in the +350 range. Grab these at FanDuel sportsbook.

Jockey Made in America 250 Betting Tips
Kyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing won the second half of last weekend’s Pocono doubleheader on Sunday, but there’s really no other team right now at the level of Hendrick Motorsports, which has won seven of the last 11 points events.
That makes us skeptical about the hopes this weekend of No. 3 odds choice Martin Truex Jr., who is a fantastic road racer but has no top-10 finishes in the past three weeks. Busch presents better odds and far better recent performance — fifth or better in four of his past five starts — making Rowdy the best of the non-Hendrick options.
Alex Bowman has been better than many realize on road courses, with top-10 finishes in all three races this season. That gives Hendrick three legitimate options for high finishes at Road America. The weak link in the Hendrick stable this week might be William Byron, who has placed deep in the pack in two road starts this season and owns an average finish on road courses of 19th.
A sleeper wager on sports betting apps might be Kevin Harvick, who keeps knocking out top-10s though he has yet to win this season. Among current drivers, he owns the second-best career average finish on road courses behind Elliott.
Austin Cindric, who won the Xfinity race at Road America last season, is wheeling a Penske car in the main event and has +140 odds of a top 10. And don’t discount Michael McDowell, with top-10s at COTA and on the Daytona road course, and +245 odds to do it again this week.
My three bets would be Larson to win at +350, Kyle Busch top-three at +215, and Harvick top Ford finisher at +600.
