Michael Beale is now hot favourite with the football betting sites to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Rangers. The 42-year-old is currently in charge of Queens Park Rangers and there would be a compensation fee involved if the Old Firm side were able to prise Steven Gerrard's former assistant away from Loftus Road.

However, odds-on quotes about Beale suggest that there's a strong chance that he will aim to resurrect the fortunes of an ailing side who fell well short in the group stage of the Champions League earlier this season. The QPR boss is regarded as having played a central role in Steven Gerrard's previous successes at the club, with the latter's odds of an Ibrox return having drifted.

Kevin Muscat is currently trading at single figures and Gerardo Seoane is a name that has started to feature in the Next Rangers Manager betting market. However, it's Beale who appears to be in the box seat to get the job.

Michael Beale Could Also Be on Rangers Manager Shortlist

Glasgow Rangers might want to go in a different direction, and perhaps they will make an approach for Michael Beale. The 42-year-old was part of Steven Gerrard's backroom staff at Ibrox between 2018-21. Many regard him as being a key reason why Gerrard was able to succeed north of the border, and Beale has since taken charge at Queens Park Rangers.

In between the Rangers and Rangers (!) roles, Beale was assistant at Aston Villa, although he now seems determined to achieve things on his own terms. It was noticeable that Wolverhampton Wanderers made an approach for the coach although that was rebuffed at the time.

Perhaps Beale will find it hard to turn down, Rangers and he might have made the sort of impression that could see him included on a shortlist, although the manager might be focused on achieving plenty with QPR instead.

Gerrard Could Be Set for Ibrox Return

Steven Gerrard helped Glasgow Rangers end the Celtic dominance north of the border by leading the Gers to a Scottish Premiership title in the 2020-21 season. The 42-year-old not only engineered a championship win, but his team also went unbeaten throughout the entire season and he would be given a warm reception should a return take place.

Rangers also topped their Europa League group under Gerrard, but the fact that he was quick to leave Scotland when Aston Villa came calling might not be easily forgotten by certain sections of the fanbase.

However, it's clear that Gerrard is a hungry and ambitious manager who will want to make a quick return to the dugout. He might fancy locking horns with Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu, with the Hoops having come away with better results in the recent Old Firm clashes.

Could Sean Dyche Be Ready To Return to Management?

Sean Dyche has been linked to a wide range of managerial positions since leaving Burnley. The 51-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by the Lancashire outfit on 15 April 2022, with Dyche having presumably applied for a number of vacant posts but nothing has stuck so far.

It's plausible that Rangers might be interested in speaking with a highly experienced manager who was largely successful at Burnley and took charge of the team over a span of 10 seasons. There were two promotions from the Championship and even a European adventure under Dyche, with the manager operating well on a modest budget.

Betting apps think that Dyche could be among the front-runners to take charge and replace Van Bronckhorst. He might be able to bring defensive organisation and discipline to a team who could yet make ground on Celtic this season.

Kevin Muscat Also Among Rangers Manager Favourites

We've seen an Australian manager take charge at Celtic, and perhaps the same thing will happen at Glasgow Rangers. Kevin Muscat is well-known by supporters considering the 49-year-old played for the team, even if he only managed 22 appearances for the Old Firm outfit.

Muscat was the long-serving manager of Melbourne Victory between 2013-2019, with the Australian then taking charge of Belgian club Sint-Truiden before heading to Japan in 2021, and he continues to preside over Yokohama F. Marinos.

Interestingly, Muscat has now followed in Postecoglu's footsteps by both taking charge of Victory and Marinos after the roles were previously vacated by the Celtic manager. It would therefore be a quirk of fate if we witnessed him heading back to Scotland and locking horns with someone he knows pretty well.

Gerardo Seoane Also Among Betting Favourites

Most Rangers supporters will be unaware of Gerardo Seoane, with the 44-year-old having recently been in charge of Bayer Leverkusen. The Swiss was able to lead the team to third place in last season's German Bundesliga, with the side qualifying for the Champions League although Seoane was made to pay for a poor start to the season by being dismissed in October.

However, perhaps the recruitment of Seoane would be a coup for a club such as Rangers. He was given the job of managing Swiss side Young Boys in 2018 and immediately led them to the Swiss Super League title. Indeed, his achievements in Switzerland led Leverkusen to take a chance on someone who favours an open and attacking style of football.

Having won three Swiss titles with Young Boys and making an immediate impact in the German Bundesliga, it's little surprise to see the manager trading at single figure odds for this role.

Could Hasenhuttl Apply for Vacant Manager's Position?

Ralph Hasenhuttl was the long-serving manager of Southampton FC until recently. The Austrian did some sterling work at St Mary's and kept the team in the Premier League before the powers-that-be decided to make a change and replace him with Nathan Jones.

Hasenhuttl could be regarded as something of a coup for the Gers considering he is a well-regarded coach who previously took charge of RB Leipzig between 2016-18, with the 55-year-old now considering his next steps and he might enjoy a challenge north of the border.

It is clear that the Rangers squad is in need of an overhaul and several squad members are coming towards the end of their contract, with Hasenhuttl potentially excited by a project that involves building things back up at Ibrox.

Thomson Among Rangers Manager Favourites

It's always possible that an ex-Rangers player will return to Ibrox and manage the first team. Kevin Thomson might have grand designs on the job and the 38-year-old has previously turned out for the Gers on 71 occasions between 2007 and 2010.

Thomson was a quality midfielder who earned three caps playing for Scotland, while he was recently in charge of Kelty Hearts, with the Scottish Premiership giant potentially interested in taking a punt on someone with a strong affinity with the club.

He resigned from Kelty Hearts in May 2022 after steering the club to promotion from Scottish League Two although perhaps the Rangers role might be too big for someone with modest experience.
