Next Permanent Southampton Manager Odds

Southampton suffered Premier League relegation last season, but hopes were high at the beginning of the campaign that new manager Will Still could get them back to the top division. However, after just two wins from their opening 13 games of the season, Still was sacked and replaced by Tonda Eckert.

Results almost immediately improved, so much so that they were in the running for automatic promotion in the final games of the season. Scott Parker Early Favourite After Leaving Burnley

Scott Parker did about as much as he could with Burnley, getting them back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Can John Mousinho Be Tempted From Portsmouth?

Liam Rosenior Ready For Return to Management?

Southampton may be the perfect opportunity for Liam Rosenior to begin rebuilding his managerial reputation. In his first season as Strasbourg manager, he guided them to seventh in the league and a spot in the Europa Conference League, up from 13th the previous season. He was on course for an even higher finish this season before Chelsea came calling in January. 

His time with Chelsea was, as is the case for many other managers, short-lived, and he’s been without a job since April. Southampton may see him as the ideal candidate - young, already with experience at the top level, committed to working with young players and, of course, available. He’d be the seventh permanent Southampton manager in just over three years, but he could be set up for a lengthy, successful time in charge if he’s seen as the right man for the project.
