West Brom lost 2-1 away at Leicester City on Monday night to drop them to 18th, having won just one of their last five. That prompted the club to part with Ryan Mason, and top betting sites have the latest odds on who will replace the former Tottenham midfielder. Mason had only been in charge since June, but with the team closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs, the club has acted.

Lee Carsley is the early favourite for the role, but there are a number of other familiar names linked. The likes of Michael Carrick, former Baggies manager Carlos Corberan and Gary O'Neil are likely to interest the club. Someone with intimate knowledge of the team like James Morrison is also on the market at top football betting sites.

Michael Carrick Among Favourites

Also prominent in the next West Ham manager and next Manchester United manager betting, Michael Carrick looks to be a man in demand. However, his CV doesn’t really back that up. Apart from a cup run, he hasn’t really achieved anything of note.

He took Middlesbrough to an eighth place finish before being sacked one year into a three-year contract extension following a poor run of form. He ended up winning fewer than half of his games in his time as manager.

Carrick would probably jump at the chance to get back into management, but he might be waiting to see if he can land one of the bigger Premier League jobs first.

Carlos Corberan produced a minor miracle to steer Huddersfield Town into the Championship play-offs in 2022. He then spent two relatively happy season at the Hawthorns, keeping them competitive for the play-offs. He was lured away from the Baggies by his hometown team Valencia in December 2024.

He is still in charge, but perhaps not for long as Valencia currently sit in the relegation zone in La Liga. If Corberan were to become available, he would surely be a popular reappointment. His odds with most betting apps suggest he is a good shout.

Russell Martin Prominent in The Betting

Russell Martin's stock could barely be lower right now after a disastrous spell at Rangers earlier this season where he lasted just 123 days, but his experience with Swansea City between 2021 and 2023 could make him an attractive candidate.

Martin led the Swans to 15th in the table in his first season before improving that by five spots next time around, which led to Southampton hiring the former defender and a 25-game unbeaten run saw them promoted back to the Premier League. Despite his time in Glasgow, Martin's Championship pedigree would make him an interest candidate for the role, and the odds at most Apple Pay betting sites suggests the club's hierarchy agree.

James Morrison Familiar With The Club

James Morrison is now in his second stint as West Brom caretaker manager, having previously done the job at the tail end of last season following the firing of Tony Mowbray. The Baggies legend, who played over 340 games for the club, has been part of the coaching setup at the club since 2019 and was promoted to first team coach a year later.

West Brom are precariously placed in the Championship table right now, flirting with relegation after a run of six losses in eight games. Hiring from within could prove to be a fruitful - albeit risky - move.
