Tip 1 - 1:20 Cheltenham - Sober
Willie Mullins has a superb record in this race and has a couple near the top of the market that look worthy contenders, including Sober. The seven-year-old only has a couple of hurdles races to his name but won both in fine style, most recently claiming a novice hurdle win at Punchestown a couple of months ago when he beat 8/11 favourite Road Exile by five lengths.

Tip 2 - 2:00 Cheltenham - Romeo Coolio
After Kargese franked the form in the Arkle, Romeo Coolio’s performance at the Dublin Racing Festival in a match race looks much better now. He’s looked like he could do with stepping up in trip after every one of his runs, so this should be right up his street. With the poor recent form of Final Demand, the door is open for a superstar to emerge and Romeo Coolio could be that horse.

Tip 3 - 2:40 Cheltenham - The Yellow Clay
The Yellow Clay certainly won’t find winning such a competitive handicap off top weight easy. However, this second season hurdler has tons of form at the top level, most notably when separating The New Lion and Final Demand in last season’s Turners. First time cheekpieces are called upon for his handicap debut where, interestingly, the UK handicapper has left his Irish mark untouched. Michael Kenneally takes off a very useful five pounds to lighten the load a little.

Tip 4 - 3:20 Cheltenham - Fakir d’Oudairies
4th in a Supreme, 2nd in an Arkle and 2nd in a Ryanair isn’t necessarily the kind of profile you look for in a Cross Country contender, but it does show that Fakir d’Oudairies likes Cheltenham. Now very much in the twilight of his career, he returns to the Cotswolds for the first time since being well beaten by Stumptown in 2024. With his mark declining and having switched to Enda Bolger, there’s reason to think there could be one more big run in the old boy.

Tip 5 - 4:00 Cheltenham - Il Etait Temps
After firmly putting Jonbon in his place, Il Etait Temps looked like he was going to take a place at the top table in the chasing division. However he blotted his copybook last time out when falling, which saw him drop down the ante post betting for the Champion Chase. With many not taking up the engagement his price is shortening again, it looks like he only has one horse to beat so it is well worth taking Majborough on considering he has jumped poorly on more than one occasion.

Tip 6 - 4:40 Cheltenham - Jazzy Matty

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
