Tip 1 - 2:30 Uttoxeter - Madaket

Madaket ran a solid race on seasonal reappearance, finishing third on what was just his second chase start. He failed to follow up last time out at Exeter, but would have found ground conditions more lively than ideal. He takes on a pair of unexposed chasing debutants today, but should have optimum ground. He’s far from bomb-proof, but may be able to put his experience and race fitness to good use.

Tip 2 - 3.18 Newcastle – Rubellite

Rubellite was the horse to beat at the start of this year as she went 12131133 between January and April, and although she’s not recaptured that form this winter, winning three months ago but being fairly middling since, she will be a massive danger if she runs like she can. She’s the most experienced all-weather runner in this race and finished third in each of her last two goes over this distance.

Tip 3 - 4:30 Newcastle - Dolos Dream

A weak looking novice race in which Dolos Dream has what looks like the best bit of form. Only beaten by an odds-on shot on debut after fading late, she isn’t going to have to contend with anything of that standard in the race today. Providing she puts in a similar performance here over a shorter trip, she could take the spoils.

Tip 4 - 5:00 Newcastle - Paddy’s Day

Paddy’s Day looked like he needed the run on return from a break last time out over course and distance, when he finished just over three lengths back of the winner in sixth. That was a 10th go over CD here, and only the third time he has finished out of the places. Indeed, he has six such wins, with the last coming from today’s mark of 88 in June. Found some real form in the summer and will be a big danger if continuing that today.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
