Tip 3 - 1:50 Cheltenham - King Turgeon

The presence of L’Homme Presse in this handicap means a number of the protagonists are carrying low weights. One of those is King Turgeon, who races from a pound out of the handicap. David Pipe’s gelding took this race last season off a mark of 133. He’s largely been out of form since, but his rating has slipped back to 136 as a result. He should come on plenty for last month’s seasonal reappearance and has every chance.

Tip 4 - 2:25 Cheltenham - Courtland

In veterans chases, it always pays to stick to the horses showing actual form rather than hoping something catches fire. Eldorado Allen ran well last time out but was given 5lb for his troubles which makes his task today difficult. Courtland was just touched off by Twig last time out and was left untouched by the handicapper. That looks very generous now after Twig won the Beacher Chase last weekend.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
