Tip 1 - 1.52 Ffos Las - Esperti
Few horses know any course like Esperti knows Ffos Las, having run here in six of his last eight outings and was a winner over course and distance in November on soft ground. He followed that up with 3m2f victory at Fontwell last time out and whilst going up 3lb is a potential concern, especially as it’s an effective 8lb rise due to claiming 5lb, Sean Bowen is experienced enough to manage the race.

Tip 2 - 2:44 Exeter - Mountain Mike
There’s a pretty big question mark over every runner in this field, with two coming in off the back of a non-completion, one whose last run was awful and another returning from over a year off. Preference is for Mountain Mike, who was last seen dotting up in a heavy-ground maiden hurdle in February of last year. He’s easily the least exposed of these and he makes his reappearance with his yard in flying form (two wins and three places from last nine runners).

Tip 3 - 3:05 Warwick - Cabhfuilfungi
Looked in decent fettle when second over the minimum distance at Ottoxeter in January and steps up to 2m4f today with previous winning form around that distance. Acts well on soft and heavy ground so should be game for today’s testing conditions. Trainer Kerry Lee is fairly selective about where her horses go and has 50% win and place rate over the last two weeks. This is her only horse today, and we think he should go well.

Tip 4 - 7:30 Southwell - Square Necker
All eyes are going to be on Constitution Hill, but Square Necker could spoil the party. He’s a fair yardstick to test whether the main attraction could have a decent flat career after winning easily last time out from a horse now rated in the mid 90s.
Constitution Hill’s wide draw could be a problem for a horse who hasn’t exactly looked like a greyhound out the traps in training, and that might leave him too much to do. There is also the possibility Cheltenham is still the main aim, in which case he might not be fully tuned up for this.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
