In a race full of unexposed horses, we’ll go for Nuit d’Eclair, who has quietly had a very nice start to her career despite starting both races at 12/1. Won first race quite cosily before moving into a Group 3 at Ascot last time out. Finishing fourth but was just a length back and seemed to be hampered when coming home very strongly. Move to seven furlongs could well bring about more improvement in what looks like a top prospect.

Tip 2 - 2:10 Ascot - Shrimp Shady

Andrew Balding has his yard in smashing form at present. He’s operating at a 20% strike rate over the past couple of weeks, including four winners and a pair of seconds from his six runners last Sunday. Shrimp Shady has won three of his last five, with two of those wins coming by a nose. As a result, his handicap rating hasn’t shot up by as much as it could have. He may continue the winning thread with Ryan Moore in the saddle for the first time.

Tip 3 - 2:45 Ascot - Night Breeze

Night Breeze won over this distance in April and looks primed to do the same again sooner rather than later after going 233 since. The six-year-old has been a very consistent horse over the last couple of years, recording a hat trick in 2024 and delivering a pair of wins last season including one over course and distance. His rating is a career high at 98 but it may take a special run from a rival to stop him claiming a sixth victory over this distance.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
