One of the top basketball players during this year’s NBA playoffs has been Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Julius Randle. He is averaging 24.3 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 5.5 APG with impressive shooting splits of 52/39/88, helping the Timberwolves to a second-straight Western Conference Finals appearance, and four wins away from a spot in the NBA Finals.

Randle holds a player option for $30.9 million this offseason, and after having such an impressive postseason, it seems likely he will opt out and chase a long-term deal instead. With Randle closing in on free agency and potentially a lucrative payday, Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has put together hypothetical NBA odds for what team Randle could be on next year during the 2025-26 season.

Team Odds Probability (%)
Minnesota Timberwolves +115 46.5
Brooklyn Nets +500 16.7
Detroit Pistons +650 13.3

Memphis Grizzlies +1500 6.3
Chicago Bulls +1500 6.3
Dallas Mavericks +1800 5.3

Top Prospective Teams

Minnesota Timberwolves (+115)

The Timberwolves are still the favorite to retain Randle’s services. Although he will more than likely opt out of his player option, the Wolves could look to sign him long-term as he has proven to be a great fit next to Wolves stars Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert.

With the team going deep into the playoffs for the second straight year, they will likely do everything they can to re-sign him, although NBA apron rules will certainly come into play for whatever contract they can offer him.

Brooklyn Nets (+500)

The Nets are one of the few NBA teams with big salary cap room this offseason, and they could make a run at Randle as the team looks to make a playoff push next year. Randle previously starred for the New York Knicks, so signing with Brooklyn would mark a return to New York, a city where he has had plenty of success.

Plus, the Nets can offer him a big deal in free agency.

Detroit Pistons (+650)

Another team that has salary cap room is the Pistons, although how much they will have to spend will depend on which of their own free agents, like Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Dennis Schroder.

If the Pistons deem Randle a better fit than some of those players, they can potentially bring in Randle to help shore up their frontcourt and give the team another star alongside Cade Cunningham.

Houston Rockets (+950)

The Rockets had a great regular season, but they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Golden State Warriors, and they will likely make some changes. Bringing in a stud like Randle, who they can count on for scoring, would be a great move for the Rockets.

Other Possible Team Options

San Antonio Spurs (+1200)

The Spurs are one of the NBA’s teams on the rise, and they will certainly be looking to make a few improvements this offseason as they look to return to the postseason next year. If they can find a way to fit Randle into their cap structure, they have to at least consider signing him.

Memphis Grizzlies (+1500)

The Grizzlies are scheduled to have some cap space, and they could lose their own PF, Santi Aldama, this offseason. If that happens, they will need someone to fill the void, and Randle could be a very nice fit for the Grizzlies frontcourt.

Chicago Bulls (+1500)

The Bulls are expected to make massive changes this offseason after another disappointing season, with the Bulls losing in the play-in. Randle would be a very nice fit on this young Bulls team if they want to show their fans they are serious about winning.

Dallas Mavericks (+1800)

The Mavericks are an intriguing option since Randle is a Dallas native. The team doesn’t have much cap flexibility right now, but if they can make a few moves, perhaps they will have the room to offer Randle a deal and bring him home.

The Field (+1400)

If Randle does indeed opt out and hit free agency, many of the teams in the league will take a look at him, potentially moving contracts or making trades to bring him into the fold, giving the field a good shot at landing the star forward.
