The Miami Heat swapped Josh Richardson for Jimmy Butler in the offseason and opened a spot for budding star Bam Adebayo by shipping Hassan Whiteside to Portland. They have a handful of role players who will need to step up if the Heat want to make it back to the postseason after missing out on it in Dwyane Wade’s final season.

Here’s the key odds available and how you should bet them:

Heat Win-Total Betting

The Line: 43.5 with SugarHouse

This feels a tad high. The Heat are better after adding Butler – and could wind up trading for Chris Paul – but there are a lot of holes on the roster and no surefire No. 2 scoring option. That’s a dangerous recipe, even in the East.

The Bet: They could struggle to get to .500, so we feel comfortable taking the under here.

Heat Southeast Division Odds

The Line: -118 with DraftKings

The Orlando Magic are still the class of the division. They made the postseason last year, re-signed Nikola Vucevic and have a few young players who could make significant jumps in 2020. For that reason, the Heat don’t provide great value as the favorites.

The Bet: Take the Magic (+140) instead.

Heat Eastern Conference Odds

The Line: +2700 with FanDuel

It would take a trade for Paul – or Bradley Beal, if he’s made available – for the Heat to even have a shot at winning the East. They have a few nice pieces in Adebayo, Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow, but even if Butler puts together a monster year, they won’t be able to hang with the powerhouse Bucks, 76ers and Celtics.

The Bet: Avoid these odds.

Heat NBA Title Odds

The Line: +6000 with 888sport

Pat Riley will spend to win, but he’s a few offseasons away from putting together a contender around Butler. They’ve got a few ugly contracts that need unloading before they can go after premier free agents and build a team that plays late into May and June.

The Bet: Avoid these odds for now, but the Heat will be back sooner rather than later.

Best Heat Player Prop Bets

The Line: Bam Adebayo Most Improved Player +1600 with PointsBet

It’s tough for centers to win this award – Jermaine O’Neal was the last to do so back in 2002 – but Adebayo is a player on the rise. He had a terrific offseason and is a lock for major minutes each night. He could wind up being this year’s version of Pascal Siakam, who won the award last season.

The Bet: He’s good value at this price point.
