Leg 1: Newly named NBA Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t going to want to come out with a dud. But he won the MVP by being the overall leader of the league’s top team. He had nine assists in Game 1 to go with his 31 points. In his last 10 postseason games, SGA has at least six assists in eight of them, and had assist totals of 8, 8, and 9 in the regular season vs. the Wolves.

Leg 2: We backed Rudy Gobert to go Over 8.5 points for Game 1, and Gobert laid an all-star level egg, just two points on 1-of-3 shooting (and three rebounds). The Wolves got spanked, they need more from their center. He had scored 8+ in four of five vs. the Warriors, and averaged 12 ppg on the season. Statistically, the center spot is one of the few spots that OKC doesn’t excel defensively. Gobert getting into double figures should again be a key strategy for Minnesota.

Leg 3: OKC guard Alex Caruso is coming off the bench for the Thunder, but he’s getting more minutes at SG than the starter, Lu Dort. In the 10 playoff games he’s played at least 12 minutes, Caruso has scored in double figures in seven, and went Over 8.5 in Game 1 with nine points (thanks to garbage time late). Minnesota is stellar defensively at PG, SF, and PF, but less so at SG when it comes to points allowed. The shoot-first Caruso should have more volume for Game 2.
