Meanwhile, five traditional Big Ten members - Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue, Iowa and Illinois - will each cover less than half that distance.

Oregon Travels Most Miles, Purdue The Fewest
The Ducks will travel 16744.34 miles and cross 20 time zones thanks in part to games at Penn State (4574.78 miles on Sept. 27) and Rutgers (4920.48 miles on Oct. 18). The Oregon-Rutgers trip is the longest in the Big 10 this season.
The shortest regularly-scheduled Big Ten intraconference road trip is now the annual USC-UCLA game. The Rose Bowl and LA Memorial Coliseum are just 12.29 miles apart.
Purdue travels the fewest number of miles of any Big 10 team this season at 5355.56 miles. Of that number, 3618.42 miles (or 67.5% of the total) are tallied due to a visit to Washington on Nov. 15. Ohio State's game at Washington on Sept. 27 covers 4009.38 miles, or 65.8% of the total miles that the Bucks will traverse this season.
The good news for Oregon is that their total is far lower than the 22,048.04 miles covered by UCLA last season.
The Big 10 season begins at Noon on September 12 when Oregon visits Northwestern.
This season, Northwestern continues to renovate its home field - Ryan Field. The Wildcats will be playing their first 5 homes games at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium, on campus. The team's final 2 home games are set for Wrigley Field. That's 15.14-mile road trip from the NU campus.

Big Ten Football Realignment Details
Five Big Ten teams have four road trips. There are 11 Big teams with five road trips. And two schools, UCLA and Washington, hit the road 6 times.
This is the second Big Ten season with no divisional format. Its schedule follows a format used by the expanded SEC, ACC, and Big 12.
Each school has "protected matchups" (aka “rivals”) in its schedule.
The 12 protected matchups are Illinois-Northwestern, Illinois-Purdue, Indiana-Purdue, Iowa-Minnesota, Iowa-Nebraska, Iowa-Wisconsin, Maryland-Rutgers, Michigan-Michigan State, Michigan-Ohio State, Minnesota-Wisconsin, Oregon-Washington and UCLA-USC.
Each member institution plays nine intraconference games per season, and teams will play every other conference opponent at least twice – once home and once away – and will play rotating opponents no more than three times in a five-year period.
The two combatants in the Big Ten Football Championship Game will be determined by the two teams in the overall conference standings at the end of the regular season.
Some dates on the schedule are subject to change and could be moved to accommodate the league’s new TV package. The Big Ten’s broadcast and streaming partners now include Fox, CBS, NBC, the Big Ten Network, and Peacock. Some games in the 2024 season may be adjusted to select special dates.
