The 2019 Women’s Wimbledon Championships brings us to the third major of the WTA Tour, and what a field of competitors we have this year for the 133rd edition of the esteemed tournament.
The Women’s field is wide-open with value, starting right at the top with Ashleigh Barty. Barty enters the event as the World’s No. 1 after overtaking Naomi Osaka in the rankings just last week. After her French Open victory combined with her recent win at the Birmingham Classic, Barty now has her sights set on back-to-back Major titles.
Wimbledon 2019 Women's Odds
Injuries have been a big storyline all too often on the Women’s side of the tour. Former No. 1 Osaka has dealt with her own issues on tour after reaching the pinnacle of the rankings, but her clay season didn’t exactly go as planned having to drop out of two separate events.
While Barty (+500) and Osaka (+1300) take up two of the top three spots on the big board, look who sits right between them at +600. Serena Williams desperately wants to get that next Major win in the books, although she has fallen all the way to 11th in the World Rankings coming into the event.
With her opportunities to catch Margaret Courts’ 24 Major titles becoming tougher to come by, might this be the tournament that Serena ties the record? Outside of the top-3 favorites, there are 10 ladies ranging from +900 to +2500 to win the tournament, and that will undoubtedly draw some attention.
Barty to Go Back-to-Back
Karolína Plíšková (+800) and Simona Halep (+170) has got to garner the attention of tennis bettors out there, simply out of respect and because of the value behind them.
Defending champion Anglique Kerber sits at an even +800 to take back-to-back titles in London, and she will be seeking her fourth Major title overall. The 2018 WTA Player of the Year Nominee hasn’t opened 2019 all that strongly.
I do suggest a bet on the favorite to win Wimbledon, with a side note toward who could provide a surprise.
Bet Barty to win Wimbledon at +500, though a spot play on Kvitová at +1100 isn't bad insurance. She has gone 6-1 each of the last two grass campaigns and already has earned two Wimbledon titles in her career. She simply knows how to win on grass.
