Entering Week 9, the Jets and Colts are just one win apart. New York just pulled off an improbable win, beating the then 5-2 Bengals with Mike White at quarterback. The Jets scored 34 points as White looked like a seasoned veteran for the Jets.

Meanwhile, the Colts lost to the Titans once again and are almost certainly out of the AFC South divisional hunt. Now, it’s about clawing their way back into the Wild Card race in the AFC.

To get you ready for this AFC matchup, here is everything you need to know from an NFL betting perspective going into Week 9.

Check out the latest Colts vs. Jets odds ahead of the matchup on Thursday Night Football. For fans awaiting online New York sports betting, that day is just months away, so be sure to bookmark our BetMGM bonus code New York page to see offers when they become available.

Jets vs. Colts Key Matchups

Jets RB Michael Carter Jr. vs. Colts LB Darius Leonard: Carter has caught 17 passes out of the backfield over the last two weeks. Can Leonard and the Colts slow him down at all on Sunday?

Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Jets CB Bryce Hall: Pittman is the clear-cut No. 1 receiver with the Colts and has scored three touchdowns in the past two weeks. He should be in for a big day on Sunday.

Colts LG Quenton Nelson vs. Jets DT Quinnen Williams: This is best-on-best for both teams. Williams is the best defensive player for the Jets and can wreck a passing attack.

Jets vs. Colts Stats

16.3: The Jets have the No. 30 scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 16.29 PPG.

29.4: The Jets also have the No. 30 scoring defense, allowing 29.4 points per game.

2-5: The Colts are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games.

2-6: The Jets are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games.

4-1: The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.

Jets vs. Colts Moneyline

Despite being just 3-5 on the season, the Colts are huge moneyline favorites on Thursday Night Football. In some places like FanDuel, they are -590 to beat the Jets in Week 9. While it is very likely that they will win this game, there just isn’t enough value on the moneyline to take this bet on either side.

Yes, Mike White looked good in his first start. But a lot of that was due to the fact the Bengals didn’t have any tape on him to watch. Look for the Colts to put together a more aggressive game plan and force White to throw the ball down the field. Pass on the moneyline in this game in favor of the point spread.

Jets vs. Colts Point Spread

Heading into Week 9, this game has one of the biggest NFL spreads of the week. The Colts are double-digit favorites and it’s not hard to see why. They can compete with any team in the league with their rushing attack and ability to make big plays in the passing game. But something about this team just feels a bit off. Carson Wentz has been fine, but not necessarily an upgrade over Philip Rivers.

If the Colts want any chance of making the playoffs in 2021, they have to go on a run right now. This feels like a good spot for them to do so at home and on a short week. Take the Colts to win and cover the 10.5 point spread (-110) on DraftKings and expect a two-touchdown victory over the 2-5 Jets.

Jets vs. Colts Totals

The total for this game sits at around 47 points, which feels like a lot for a backup quarterback. Yes, Mike White and the Jets scored 34 on Sunday, but it doesn’t feel likely that they will be able to repeat that type of success. Instead, expect a regression to the mean and for the Jets to score 17-20 points in this game, at most.

Still, it’s too difficult to get excited about either offense right now, which means the Under 46.5 (-110) on FanDuel is probably the safe bet. But be sure to shop around for the best odds on your favorite betting apps and sportsbooks, as this total can vary from site to site.
