We have finally reached the end of the 2022 NFL season with Super Bowl 56 just days away. Super Bowl LVI will feature the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Joe Burrow will look to continue the unlikely run and beat the favored Rams at home in a rare home-field Super Bowl game for the Rams (sure, it happened last year with the Bucs, but that was the first time ever!). What are the odds of that?

Sorry, we don't actually have an answer on that, but we are going to take a look at all of the latest available betting lines, Super Bowl prop bets and so much more! Here is your ultimate Super Bowl Betting Guide.

Super Bowl 2022 Betting Odds

On most online sportsbooks, the Rams are currently 4.5 point Super Bowl betting favorites over the Bengals. That line has moved some over the last two weeks as it started at Rams -4. As of right now, 58% of the money coming in is on the Rams to win and cover the spread, according to Bookies.com, but it's still early in the week.

It is worth noting that the Bengals would have had the same odds (+4) at beginning of the playoffs (at least according to FanDuel) and would have only been +6.5 underdogs if they would have played the Rams midseason, according to those same oddsmakers.

The over/under sits at 48.5 across nearly all sportsbooks. This is the lowest over/under total for a Super Bowl matchup since Super Bowl XLIX that featured the Patriots and the Seahawks. That total finished at 47.5 as both teams had elite defensive talent.

The Rams are -200 favorites on the moneyline on most sportsbooks. However, that number can vary from site to site. Likewise, the Bengals are +166 underdogs on the moneyline, but are listed as high as +170 on some sites. Be sure to check out your favorite online sportsbooks to see all of the latest odds.

How to Bet on Super Bowl LVI

One of the best parts of the Super Bowl is all of the ways to bet on the game. It's the most wagered on sporting event of the year and there are endless ways to place bets. Here are a few of the most common Super Bowl bets and how to make them:

Super Bowl 56 Moneyline Bet

This is a bet where a player wagers on who will win the game outright. Margin of victory does not come into play with moneyline bets. The Rams are currently -200 favorites to win while the Bengals are at +166 underdogs, according to Bookies.com. This is the most basic Super Bowl bet - players only have to wager on the final outcome.

The +166 on the Bengals means you'd win $166 if you bet $100 on Cincinnati. Meanwhile, you'd have to bet $200 on the Rams to win $100. The obvious value discrepancy is because the Bengals are the biggest underdogs (150-1 odds in preseason) to reach the Super Bowl since, ironically, the "Greatest Show on Turf" Rams did so in 1999 as 150-1 underdogs (bet $1, win $150). As a result, it's not surprising that the current Rams are getting most of the moneyline bets (78%), according to Bookies' numbers.

Super Bowl Over/Under Bet

This is a bet on the total number of points scored in the game. The current over/under for the big game is set at 48.5. This is one of the lowest over/under in recent Super Bowl odds history, but certainly not the lowest. The lowest total in Super Bowl history is 33, which was the Over/Under in four Super Bowls (Super Bowls XII, XIII IV and XXXV).

As for this year, 57% of the action is on the under, according to Bookies.com. A defensive struggle is within the realm of possibilities. Both teams allow roughly 22 points per game (21.9 for the Rams and 22.1 for the Bengals). The Bengals also gave up 55 sacks, which was third-worst in the NFL during the regular season.

Super Bowl Spread Bet

This is a bet in which players are asked to wager on a team using a point spread. In Super Bowl 56 odds, the Rams are 4.5 point favorites, meaning they would need to win by at least five points in order to cover the spread. Likewise, the Bengals are 4.5 point underdogs. That means that the Bengals would need to win outright or lose by no fewer than 5 points to cover the spread. The .5 is called the hook, which often times is crucial in deciding between a winning and losing wager.

You always want to be on the right side of the hook, meaning you want to lay 4 points if you are wagering on the Rams, rather than 4.5, and you want to be getting 4.5 points if you are betting on the Bengals. The key numbers in spread betting are 3, 7, and 10. The majority of NFL games are decided by 3 points, in case you haven't been paying attention during the 2022 playoffs!

Super Bowl Player Props

Prop Bets are when you wager on a specific outcome in a game that is not directly tied into the final outcome. For example, you can wager on the number of passing yards by Joe Burrow or who will score the first touchdown of the game for the Rams (no surprise, Cooper Kupp is the favorite at FanDuel at +490). The AnyTime Touchdown Scorer Super Bowl props are just what they sound like.

You just bet that Kupp (-190 at FanDuel) will score at any point in the game. You can also bet that he'll have multiple touchdowns (+290 at FanDuel). Or you can bet that Joe Burrow will be Super Bowl MVP.

Some sites will even let you place a futures bet ahead of the Super Bowl, wagering on who will win the game next year. It's worth noting that the odds for a prop bets can differ from site to site, so be sure to check out different sportsbooks for the best odds.

Exotic Super Bowl prop bets

The Super Bowl will have countless exotic prop bets available, such as the length of the National Anthem, the color of sports drink dumped on the winning coach, the coin toss and so much more. Be sure to check out your favorite sportsbooks to see what Super Bowl prop bets they have available.
