In this day and age of marketing and promotion, golfers on all tours have many sponsors on their golf bags and apparel to promote products or services.

Casinos, sports betting platforms, along with hotel and resorts, have used the opportunities with golf betting to promote and market their gaming experiences and recruit new customers and patrons to its new products and hospitality locations.

Three golfers this week are doing just that as the LPGA Tour returns to New Jersey for the 26th edition of the ShopRite LPGA Classic. It’s being played on the Bay Course at Seaview, A Dolce Hotel in Galloway, 13.8 miles away from the East Coast’s gaming playground, Atlantic City.

Natalie Gulbis, Anna Nordqvist and Cristie Kerr are sponsored by the MGM Resorts Golf Ambassadors Program, a unique partnership with professional players that combine unique experiences for guests and VIPs while providing exclusive benefits at MGM Resorts properties.

Regional MGM properties will host local guests to exclusive one-day outings highlighted by the opportunity to play against professional golf ambassadors at the top courses throughout the country.

BetMGM is Roar Digital’s sports betting and gaming platform. Roar Digital is the joint venture between MGM Resorts and GVC Holdings that was established in July 2018 to create a sports betting and online gaming platform in the U.S.

“My relationship with MGM Resorts started a couple years ago and it's been a great sponsor. This year I'm staying at Borgata, which is part of the MGM family, and my room is about the size of an apartment,” said Nordqvist, who has recorded five top-five finishes in six starts in Atlantic City since 2014, the most of any player by three.

“I'm definitely lucky to have their support. I live not too far away from Las Vegas and had a couple really cool trips there. I've seen Lady Gaga there last year, which was a really cool experience. I was supposed to get married this year, so might have been a bachelorette party that was going to happen in Vegas but got canceled. Hopefully in the future that will be something they help me host of looking forward to that.”

Sporting the Logos on the Course

Nordqvist, who will sport the MGM Resorts logo on her sleeve and also on her golf bag, won this event back-to-back in 2015 and 2016 and has recorded one runner-up, one third-place and one fourth-place finish.

Kerr gets things started among the three this morning, along with Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Na Yeon Choi.

Gulbis tees off with Emma Talley and Julieta Granada and Nordqvist tees off with Stacy Lewis and defending champion Lexi Thompson, a trio that owns a combined five ShopRite titles between them.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the cancellation of the weekly pro-am outing on Monday, the tour had previously announced this week’s tournament will be conducted over four days, rather than the usual three-day weekly event.

All four rounds of this week’s event can be seen on The Golf Channel (Thursday-Sunday) from 1-4 p.m.

The BetMGM sportsbook and the PGA announced a multi-year deal for betting content and marketing on Aug. 3. Like the three LPGA players, PGA Tour players Max Homa, Jimmy Walker, Kevin Na, Pat Perez, Ryan Moore, Joel Dahmen and Boo Weekley have existing sponsorship relationships with BetMGM.
