The undefeated New England Patriots, led by future Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady and the NFL’s top-ranked defense, get Week 6 of the NFL kicked off when they host upstart rookie Daniel Jones and the New York Giants for Thursday Night Football.

The Giants are 2-1 since Jones took over under center. But the Patriots are massive favorites at Foxboro in prime time.

Let’s take a look at some of the best bets fans of NFL betting should consider:

PICK 1: New England Patriots -16

This is a lot of points to give a team that has, historically, matched up well with the Patriots. The Giants have covered the last five meetings between these teams and are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games.

But the Patriots have dominated the competition lately. Especially at home and especially against overmatched teams. Despite being double-digit favorites often, New England is on a 13-3 ATS run at home against sub-.500 teams.

Jones is getting a lot of credit for turning the Giants’ fortunes around. But his 13.3% completion rate on passes of 20 yards or more ranks dead last in the NFL, as does his 28.8 QB rating in short-yardage situations – the league average is 107.1.

Without much of a run game to lean on, it’s going to be a tough go to get downfield against the Patriots. Saquon Barkley is unlikely to play, and RB Wayne Gallman and WR Sterling Shephard are in concussion protocol. This one could get out of hand early, and New York won’t have the weapons to get back into it.

PICK 2: Total Points by Patriots – Over 28.5

The Giants are going to struggle to slow Brady. Only once this season has the Patriots been held to under 30 points, and that was against the No. 2 defense in the NFL on the road.

The Giants rank 30th in yards allowed, and only once in five games this season have they held their opponent to under 28 points (and that was the downtrodden Redskins).

Giants running back Saquon Barkley will likely be a spectator again Thursday night because of a high-ankle sprain.

PICK 3: Highest-Scoring Half – First Half

The Pats score roughly 15 ppg in the first and second halves of games, the Giants are nearly even as well, averaging roughly 9.5 ppg on each side of the break.

The difference comes with the Giants’ defense. New York allows a whopping 12.4 ppg in the second quarters of games, easily the most in the NFL, and 18.2 ppg in the first half this season. Compare that to the 5.6 ppg allowed in the second half.

In fact, these teams are combining to allow just 4.0 ppg in the fourth quarters of games. If this one gets out of hand early, as the pointspread suggests it might, the fourth might be a throwaway frame as both teams just look to get off the field.

PICK 4: Tom Brady Total Yards – Over 275.5

Brady has hit 300-plus yards in three of his five games this season, and none of those were against a pass defense as susceptible as the Giants, who rank 30th against the throw. The Patriots aren’t known for taking the pedal off the gas until the final whistle – just ask the Redskins, who Brady torched for 348 yards in a comfortable 33-7 road win.

Tom Brady will face a Giants defense ranked 30th against the pass.

PICK 5: First Team To 30 Points – Patriots

The Patriots are averaging 31 ppg and last year hit the mark six times in nine home games, and never under 24.
