Things spiralled out of control for Brendan Rogders quickly this season, to the point that he has now left the club with some sharp parting words from Celtic’s majority shareholder. From the summer, Rodgers had stated his displeasure with the club’s transfer business, and that unhappiness was reflected on the pitch.

The team crashed out of Champions League qualifying at the hands of Kazakh minnows Kairat Almaty, and the final straw appeared to be Celtic’s 3-1 defeat to Hearts that left them eight points adrift of the Edinburgh team. 

As a result, the best betting sites have now priced up the market for who will replace Rodgers after Martin O’Neill, assisted by Shaun Maloney, was placed in temporary charge of the team. Former boss Ange Postecoglou is the early favourite.

McKenna Could Replace Postecoglou

We’re not far removed from Kieran McKenna being tipped for big Premier League jobs at the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. He now finds himself in charge of an Ipswich side in mid-table in the Championship.

He has the sort of profile Celtic will find appealing, being a young manager who’s made a very promising start to his career in the dugout. The opportunity to take charge of a team contending for trophies and playing European football could be too much for McKenna to turn down should Celtic come calling. Shaun Maloney A Popular Ex-Player

There aren’t many candidates who know the club better than Maloney, a former attacking midfielder who made 215 appearances for the Hoops. Currently installed as interim assistant manager to Martin O’Neill, it wouldn’t take too big a leap to see him sitting in the hot seat in the near future.

However, he hasn’t been pulling up trees in his coaching career to date, with his time at Hibs and Wigan not amounting to much, it might be a step too far this early on to give him the job, even if some Apple Pay betting sites think he could be a genuine contender.

Scott Brown Might Covet Celtic Role

Brown is a Celtic legend, with the former midfielder having turned out for the Hoops on 407 occasions. He was hugely successful as a player and captain for this Old Firm club and would dearly love to manage them at some point. The big question is whether it would be too early for the 40-year-old who wouldn't want to tarnish his reputation among the fanbase after previously doing so well as a player.

Brown was a big leader for this team and won no fewer than 10 Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic, with the midfielder in the Team of the Year on six occasions. He has been in charge of Scottish Championship side Ayr for the last couple of years and might be of some interest, even if some fast withdrawal betting sites think he's more of an outsider.
