If you’re looking for an alternative Premier League betting market, the Premier League top-six market provides punters with the chance to bet on any team to finish higher than seventh in the final overall standings. The beauty of this market is that six teams will be settled as a winner, and it’s also an opportunity to bet on a club who might not realistically be able to secure a top-four place in the top flight but are in with a stronger chance when it comes to landing a spot in the Europa League.

Most of the Premier League's top six is all but settled, with Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Spurs all locked in as the top five, though their exact order is very much up in the air. As a result, most betting apps don't have odds available on these teams but will be offering odds on anyone else who's in with a shot of claiming sixth spot.

Here are the latest Premier League top-six odds, from some of the best sports betting sites sites:

Newcastle Joint Favourites for Sixth

Newcastle had rounded into form at the right time, picking up wins when those around them have been faltering. An untimely defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace has seen them fall behind in the race for sixth, and they're now odds against. This season hasn't quite lived up to last year, when they finished in the top four. However, they're well-positioned to finish in sixth thanks to their superior goal difference compared to the teams below them.

Two of Newcastle's remaining four games are against teams in the bottom seven of the Premier League, with one of the others their main contenders for sixth in Man Utd. While this means they'll be facing opposition fighting for Premier League survival, there's also a gulf in class there, which should stand the Magpies in good stead.

Manchester United Joint Favourites to Finish 6th or Higher

The season has not gone particularly well for Manchester United, who are now trading at odds on with most betting sites to finish in the top six, with Erik ten Hag's side benefiting hugely from Crystal Palace's win over Newcastle.

Elimination from the Champions League hasn't been as beneficial for their league form as many fans and punters hoped, with the Red Devils struggling consistently throughout the season. With just a handful of games to go, they have their destiny in their own hands. However, with matches to come against title challengers Arsenal and their main rivals for sixth in Newcastle, they don't have an easy run in.

Chelsea, Brighton and West Ham Chasing Top Six

The league table, and indeed the odds on UK betting apps, suggest that the race for top six is pretty much between Newcastle and Man Utd. However, there are teams chasing them who could capitalise on any slip-ups. Chelsea have put together a string of results that has them right behind Newcastle and Man Utd but missed out on the chance to leapfrog United after being beaten 5-0 by Arsenal.

Brighton will need results to go their way, as they sit well behind the frontrunners, while West Ham face an uphill battle, having played a game more than those around them in the table.

Consider Cash Out on the Premier League Top-Six Betting

While six teams will be settled as winners on the Premier League top-six betting market, it doesn’t mean that you can’t make a profit in a different way. For example, if you backed Aston Villa at the start of the season at a decent price, cashing out now when they look a certainty mightn't be the best approach. Cash out is available at most of the best sports betting sites, so this option should be available.

This is known as a back-to-lay strategy, and the alternative is that you can include a Premier League top-six selection as part of a season-long multiple bet. This is something that is done with the shorter-priced picks that are combined with other favorites in different betting markets in order to land a bigger price.

History of the Premier League Big Six

Manchester City and Arsenal were a long way clear of the pack last season, with Manchester United and Newcastle also claiming Champions League spots. Liverpool and Brighton were the other teams to make up the top six.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United were the top six the previous season, but Leicester and West Ham were able to finish above Spurs and the Gunners 12 months previously.

Leicester also landed fifth spot in 2020-21 during a season where Arsenal finished in a lowly eighth, although the 2018-19 season saw the original Big Six dominate the landscape, and the same applies to the 2017-18 and 2016-17 campaigns.
