Tip 1 - 1:00 Ffos Las - Minella Apprentice
With the other two in this three-runner race to open the card at Ffos Las not really setting the world alight with their performances so far, the door is open for Minella Apprentice to get off the mark at the first attempt under rules. Breeding suggests there is ability there, and so does being purchased after getting off the mark at the first attempt in a Point-to-Point.

Tip 2 - 1:57 Carlisle - Ruby Island
A small field for this beginners’ chase, but a lot of very solid form on offer, including at Cheltenham and Aintree. Tellherthename is most likely to be suited by today’s minimum trip, but at the prices, preference is for Nicky Richards’ Ruby Island. She’s run well here at Carlisle before, and her excess stamina reserves could come into play at this track. In receipt of half a stone in the form of the mares’ allowance, she could upset the market principals.

Tip 3 - 2:05 Ffos Las - Roe And Co
There have clearly been some issues for Jamie Snowden’s seven-year-old Roe And Co, who is only racing for the sixth time ever and fourth under rules. Three hurdles efforts didn’t really amount to much and could be more suited to the bigger obstacles today. Won a Point-to-Point over today’s three miles on soft ground so his engine shouldn’t be a problem. Among the beaten foes that day are a 135-rated hurdler and 117-rated chaser, so coming in here off a mark of 98 could be quite low. Claimer takes off three and the yard is bang in form.

Tip 4 - 3:30 Brighton - Buy The Dip
Recent form doesn’t make good reading for Buy The Dip, who has gone 9790 in his last four, but a return to Brighton might be just the ticket. The five-year-old has come second in each of his last three runs here, all over 1m, and is a two-time course-and-distance winner. His current mark of 61 is the lowest it’s been since June, when he claimed a win off the same mark.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
