Tip 1 - 2:05 Nottingham - Iceni Queen
Plenty of unknowns in this race, with four of the nine in the field having their first run. Iceni Queen’s debut effort was quite eyecatching. After being slowly away, she raced prominently, then found herself outpaced at a crucial stage before running on late to finish a close fourth. She’s likely to benefit from this step up in trip and should put her experience to good use against today’s rivals.

Tip 2 - 2:13 Wetherby - Genbu
Genbu has been edging closer to claiming his maiden victory in the last couple of months, recording four consecutive thirds, and looks set to be in mix once again at the end. His best effort of those thirds came back in July when he was beaten by a 2/9 favourite in a 2m race, so today’s outing also being that distance gives hope that he can come out on top here.

Tip 3 - 2:22 Worcester - Grillon De Monty
Grillon De Monty is getting long in the tooth at 10, but he has the most impressive past form to fall back on in a race where precious few have shown a great deal of ability. Winner over the only two course-and-distance trips he’s had this summer. Up to a mark of 102, which is a career-high chasing but has previously won from 105 when hurdling. James Brace has been on board for last two wins and takes off a handy five pounds.

Tip 4 - 2:30 Punchestown - Spick And Span
After a busy and productive spell from June to August, where she had four runs with form figures of 2217, Spick And Span was given a two-month break as a freshener. She returned a couple of weeks ago at Clonmel, fading late when moving into contention. She may have needed the run after the break and it’s possible the 2m4f trip stretched her stamina. Today’s drop back in distance will suit and a big run looks to be on the cards.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
