Tip 1 - 2:25 Sandown - Classic Encounter
Classic Encounter opened 2025 with a comfortable Class 3 win at Redcar and whilst he failed to follow that up in his next two outings, finishing second and third as favourite, he got back on track at York three weeks ago. The four-year-old has it all to do to prove he belongs at this grade, but this sort of start to his turf career shouldn’t go overlooked.

Tip 2 - 3:00 Sandown - Blue Bolt
Class 2 victories over this distance at Windsor and Newbury look to have set Blue Bolt up perfectly for this race. The three-year-old won both of those comfortably, the first by four lengths and the second by 1.25l, and making a step up in grade shouldn’t pose much of an issue in what could be a competitive race.

Tip 3 - 3:35 Sandown - Delacroix
Delacroix didn’t cut much ice in the Derby despite going off 2/1 favourite for the race. He and his rivals were put to the sword by Lambourn that day, and suffering interference when trying to mount a challenge wouldn’t have helped either. This drop in trip looks set to suit though, having won a pair of Leopardstown Group 3s at this distance earlier in the year. Ombudsman looks top class, but at the prices, it’s worth chancing Aidan O’Brien’s colt, who doesn’t have a massive amount to find on ratings.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
