Tip 1 - 2:20 Ascot - Chantilly Lace
Chantilly Lace is the joint highest-rated of these, along with Royal Dress. Crucially though, Ralph Beckett’s filly gets an eight pound age allowance, meaning she’s very nicely treated. This represents a significant drop in class for her, with her two runs this season being creditable efforts in Group 1s, including when fifth in the 1000 Guineas. She seemed to handle Ascot when running at the Royal Meeting, and with just three runs in her career so far, she could have a massive amount of improvement to come.

Tip 2 - 3:00 Ascot - Fresh
At the ripe old age of eight, we know exactly what Fresh is. After going down by half a length in this contest last season, he followed up over six furlongs here a few weeks later. We’ve seen time and again that Ascot form is the best indicator for these tricky Ascot handicaps, and Fresh has tons of it. A pipe-opener at Newcastle last month should have him spot on for this and he looks to have a big chance at a decent price.

Tip 3 - 3:20 York - Fortunate Star
Always a popular race, the Jump Jockeys’ Nunthorpe gives some of the best national hunt riders a chance to compete in a five furlong sprint. Fortunate Star, set to be ridden by Robbie Dunne, stands out on recent form. He was an impressive winner at Haydock three weeks ago and looked unlucky a few days later, going down by a nose after his jockey couldn’t fully ride out while trying to correct his mount. In a wide-open race, he’s well-drawn and should be bang there.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?
We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.
A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time.
For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
