Tip 1 - 2:35 Hereford - Gris Majeur

Back on his last winning mark, although that was over hurdles, this could be the time to catch Gris Majeur. Last time out he ran over a trip too far, so the drop in distance is good to see here. He has twice won at Hereford in the past so if his form is going to return anywhere it is going to be here, Jonathan Burke in the saddle is another obvious plus.

Tip 2 - 2:52 Limerick - Cramers Valley

Low-grade stuff here in this one, with Cramers Valley nothing more than a speculative choice. He’s been reluctant to race at times in the past, but showed much more enthusiasm last time out at Cork, going clear in the lead before being collared late and finishing second. He’s been hit with a 5lb rise for that run, but he was comfortably ahead of Phoenix Cowboy and Who’s In Midfield, who re-oppose today. He’s far from a certainty to back that run up, but if he does, he’ll take all the beating.

Tip 3 - 3.10 Hereford – Pittsburg

It hasn’t been the best season for Pittsburg but he was able to get back on track with victory at Market Rasen in what was his fourth career chase victory and that should give him the edge today. The nine-year-old is a two-time distance winner and gets the nod over favourite Zmiinyi who has never raced shorter than 2m4f, and experience could be key in a tight race like this.

Tip 4 - 4:12 Lingfield - Mister Mojito

A record of two from two at Lingfield helps make Mister Mojito perhaps an obvious choice, but it is a reasonable price you can get the four-year-old. Inconsistent three-year-old campaign, but the first time tongue tie last time out seemed to do the trick over one furlong further than today, and there could yet be more to come from a horse that has only run six times over the all-weather. A mark of 70 seems fair, particularly with claimer Brandon Wilkie taking off five pounds.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
