Tip 1 - 2:15 Ayr - Valgrand

Willie Mullins is firing a few bullets at this, but preference is for Dan Skelton’s Valgrand. He ran no sort of race at Cheltenham when well-fancied for the County Hurdle, but that run could end up being a blessing in disguise. He wasn’t given a hard time late on, being allowed to coast home in his own time out the back. He’s also been eased two pounds for that run. With connections assuming he was well-treated off his previous mark, he should take all the beating if on a going day.

Tip 2 - 3:12 Newbury - Classic

Something of a guessing game here, with so many horses making their seasonal debut. Some will be primed for a big run, while others will be using it as a platform for the rest of the season. It’s hard to ignore Classic’s rating of 88. That puts him 4lb below the mark off which he ran when a close second in a big handicap at Sandown last June. Richard Hannon and James Doyle is a cracking trainer / jockey combo, and he should go close if fully wound up.

Tip 3 - 3:35 Ayr - Brandt

With all the focus on Willie Mullins and his challenge for the Trainers’ Championship, the value might be in one of the runners in opposition. The fast improving Brandt gets in here right at the bottom of the weights and might be overlooked as he is 4lb out of the handicap. However, he looked very impressive upped in trip last time out and may well have a lot more to give over the marathon distance.

What Are the Average Advised Odds of Our Tips?

We tip a minimum of 3 horses per day across the UK and Irish racing and the average starting price of our selections is a remarkable 4/1 over hundred and hundreds of tips this year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
