Tip 1 - 1:20 Aintree - Bill Joyce

There’s no better place to try a longer trip than Aintree, and the manner in which Bill Joyce has previously seen out 2m4f on soft ground at Sandown suggests this trip should be well within his range. The form of his Challow third, where he was beaten around five lengths by The New Lion received a major boost last month, and a mark of 136 could be very lenient. Fresh from a 70-day break, taking on horses who had tough races at Cheltenham, he has a massive chance.

Tip 2 - 1.55 Aintree – Honesty Policy

It will be difficult to beat clear favourite Lulamba in this Novices’ Hurdle but Honesty Policy looks set to give it a good go, having impressed in Ireland this year with figures of 211 over hurdles and clearly has more to give. This is a big step up for the five-year-old, both in terms of class and distance, but trainer Gordon Elliott has won each of the last three editions of this race and will fancy his chances of making it four in a row.

Tip 3 - 3.05 Aintree - Kitzbuhel

Teahupoo sets the standard here but two Grade 1 three miles in just three weeks is a bit ask, so we will side with Kitzbuhel. The five year old has looked very progressive since joining Willie Mullins and seems to have a nice turn of foot. This is a big step up in trip, but connections but anticipate he will stay the extra distance, with Aintree’s flat track giving him the best chance to get home.

Tip 4 - 4:00 Aintree - Beauport e/w

I Am Maximus was a really impressive winner of this last year and will have been campaigned with this race in mind ever since, but top weight is not typically the sign of a winner in the Grand National. You always want to find a horse you know can stay the distance and in winning the Midlands Grand National on heavy ground last year, Beauport certainly did that. Not always seen to best effect going left-handed, but the fact his last two efforts have been over hurdles suggests, the yard’s eye has firmly been on this prize and should outrun hefty odds.

What Are the Average Advised Odds of Our Tips?

We tip a minimum of 3 horses per day across the UK and Irish racing and the average starting price of our selections is a remarkable 4/1 over hundred and hundreds of tips this year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
