NBA All-Star MVP 2022 Odds, Best Bet & Long Shot To Back
Anyone claiming to have the inside scoop on the All-Star Game MVP is more than likely guessing. But that’s not to say there isn’t such a thing as an educated guess! And that’s what we’ll try to do here handicapping the 2022 All-Star Game MVP for all our NBA betting fans.
Before we get to our leading candidates, let’s do a bit of a history lesson on former players to win the award and what to look for when choosing:
Hall of Fame candidacy: From 1951 to 2021, the only players to win All-Star Game MVP and NOT be in the Hall of Fame or on a Hall of Fame trajectory were Adrian Smith (1966), Edward Smith (1978), Tom Chambers (1987), and Glen Rice (1997). Don’t get cute here. All-Stars not on a Hall of Fame trajectory (Andrew Wiggins, Fred VanVleet, DeMar DeRozan, and Jarrett Allen) aren’t going to win MVP.
Scoring and winning: From 2000 to 2021, a total of 22 All-Star Games, all 22 MVPs came from the victorious team, and 20 of them led that team in scoring. Don’t think rebounds or assists or any flashy defense when picking your winner. Most All-Stars are big-time point-getters, but they need to lead a group of elite scorers in that department. This makes reserves a difficult choice to take.

Our Pick To Win The 2022 NBA All-Star Game MVP
You can call our NBA picks boring, but LeBron James is the favorite at +600 with DraftKings for a reason. Let’s consider everything he has going for him: He has won the award three times (so we know he tries), he’s having a rejuvenated 2022 campaign (29.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists), and the Lakers are struggling mightily (this may be his only real chance in the spotlight the rest of the season).
He played thirteen uninspiring minutes last season, but that was after playing massive minutes in the Bubble and heading right back into the season. LeBron is fresh this time around, and he’s second in the league in scoring. Let’s also not forget that the All-Star Game is in Cleveland this season. The hometown kid will want to put on a show for the crowd. All signs point to LeBron coming home with the award. What’s more, Team LeBron is a perfect 4-0 the last four seasons.
2022 NBA All-Star Game MVP Long Shot
We need scoring to bring home the MVP award, and Luka Doncic does plenty of that. He’s taken a bit of a backseat this season as far as MVP frontrunners are concerned, but he’s scalding hot as a scorer over the last month: 32.2 points over his last 14 games, including performances of 41, 37, 40, 51, and 45 points. His +1400 odds look great at FanDuel.
2022 NBA All-Star Game MVP Shot In The Dark Pick
If you want to get really crazy, Darius Garland is the hometown player to look out for. He’s a point guard on Team LeBron, which features veterans Chris Paul, Jimmy Butler, and Steph Curry, who may all take it easy. Perhaps that opens the door for a big night from Garland, who has 16 point-assist double-doubles this season. The +5000 odds is excellent value and you can find it at top betting sites and betting apps right now.
