Dennis Allen’s New Orleans Saints improved from 7-10 in his first season as head coach to 9-8 last year. They ranked in the upper half of the NFL in points scored and allowed, and yards gained and given up.

The Saints entered the offseason in a bad spot from a salary cap perspective, and as expected were among the least-active teams in free agency. But they have a grand opportunity to add an impact player for 2024 in an early pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has used his resources of NFL contacts developed over 20 years covering the league and the NFL Draft to create his hypothetical NFL futures odds on who gets selected 14th by the New Orleans Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Who Will The Saints Take In The 2024 NFL Draft?

The Saints last season were OK across the board, but not really great in anything. Derek Carr was solid enough in his first season in the Big Easy, and WR Chris Olave developed into a WR1, but the rushing situation was subpar with Alvin Kamara and the team struggled to stop the run when needed most.

The Saints' O-line, however, was an issue, especially at the guard spots. Tackle depth is also a concern. Really, the team could be upgraded anywhere across the line except center, where Erik McCoy proved to be an anchor.

Many analysts believe Penn State tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu would be a Top 10 pick in most drafts, but he gets pushed down due to the expected early runs on QBs and WRs. Fashanu is elite as a pass-blocker, something the Saints struggled with last season. He could fall right into the Saints’ laps and create a solid bookend with Ryan Ramczyk.

Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga is right there with Fashanu as a Top 3-4 O-lineman. He could play tackle or guard, and that kind of versatility could be important for a Saints line that has multiple spots to fill.

Mammoth OT Amarius Mims of Georgia is a solid Plan C and can protect Carr’s backside.

If the Saints decide that stopping the run is of more importance, Illinois DT Johnny Newton and Texas DT Byron Murphy, arguably the top two defensive tackles in the class, are expected to be available at 14. The Saints should get a plug-and-play starter in Round 1.
