Tip 1 - 2:30 Southwell - Small Town Hero

Having been a point winner, the jumping ability should be there within Small Town Hero, who jumped reasonably well on chase debut. Now things look to be lined up for a good run from him; a slightly longer trip should put less pressure on his jumping and the addition of a tongue tie suggests they have found a small issue they can deal with. This looks like a good chance for him to pick up his first win under rules.

Tip 2 - 3:30 Southwell - Brindley

It’s not been a supreme start to hurdle racing for Brindley, with form of 9434 in his fledgling career so far, but both fourths were strong runs in fields of 12 and 15, respectively, and he has every chance of flourishing today as a result. His most recent run, a 2m outing at Perth, was particularly impressive until losing momentum on the final couple of hurdles, but a smaller field today will work in his favour.

Tip 3 - 3:47 Catterick - Without Flaw

Not many of these know how to win, but someone has to, and we think Without Flaw’s recent reappearance could be a good pointer to her form. After a 195-break, she was beaten a head into first 11 days ago. Up two pounds but still well treated on the evidence of her one and only previous win at Ffos Las two years ago from a mark of 60. The quick ground is sure to suit over this minimum distance.

Tip 4 - 4:25 Roscommon - River Derwent

River Derwent won over course and distance last May off two pounds higher. Despite being woefully out of form recently, there’s still cause for optimism. His profile was very similar last year before his win, and apprentice James Ryan is back on board today, having steered him to victory a year ago. With a recent seasonal debut at Dundalk expected to have the seven-year-old spot on, he’s an interesting runner at a big price.

What Are the Average Advised Odds of Our Tips?

We tip a minimum of 3 horses per day across the UK and Irish racing and the average starting price of our selections is a remarkable 4/1 over hundred and hundreds of tips this year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
