Tip 1 - 2:17 Leicester - Shabu Shabu

Shabu Shabu has all the makings of a handicap plot. This son of Australia is too well-bred to be rated 52, and takes a big step up in trip on handicap debut. He returns from a 10-week break having been gelded, and has promising apprentice Feed Daly taking seven pounds off. There’s been money about for him this morning, and it would be no shock to see him improve massively and potentially even rattle off a string of wins.

Tip 2 - 2:30 Southwell - Neigh Botha

One of the more inconsistent horses around, Neigh Botha finished second of eight in a Class 4 chase at Bangor in March before offering next-to-nothing a month later in a hurdle race. However, this eight-year-old is a course-and-distance winner here as recently as November and also achieved that feat 12 months ago, which makes him very appealing at his price.

Tip 3 - 4:47 Leicester - Sword

Sword looked a useful operator when winning a Novice race on his last run of 2024. The form of that race has worked out well with the second that day, who is now rated 89, winning twice since. He might have a bit of headroom in his mark of 82, and with the addition of a hood for the first time he might give this his true running.

What Are the Average Advised Odds of Our Tips?

We tip a minimum of 3 horses per day across the UK and Irish racing and the average starting price of our selections is a remarkable 4/1 over hundred and hundreds of tips this year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
