Tip 1 - 2:50 Chelmsford - Sir Maxi

Would rather a lower draw than stall 14, but Sir Maxi is in good form and won on his only run over course and distance last month. On previous form, this mark of 65 is more than manageable, having won from a mark of 71 previously. If Jamie Spencer can get his charge across without expending too much energy, expect Sir Maxi to come through late to challenge for the lead.

Tip 2 - 3:15 Lingfield - Diamondonthehill

This looks a competitive contest, with a number of horses seemingly in with a shout. We plump for Diamondonthehill, who has been competitive without winning for new yard. He has four placed efforts from his last five races, and this switch to six furlongs from seven could be what the doctor ordered. Second by a neck last time out here over seven and faded over the final furlong. This reduction could bring about enough improvement for a win.

Tip 3 - 3:35 Newcastle - Marshman

Five-year-old Marshman has winning and placed Group form on the turf and has taken well to the all-weather this season, with two wins and a second - one of those victories was over course and distance. The second was over the shorter five furlongs, and he should be suited back to six today. The all-weather form has come in better races than today so should be there or thereabouts come the end of the contest.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
