Each selection is advised as a single bet, and at a straight £10 win single per horse, unless otherwise stated.

Do be aware that betting on horse racing is difficult to win consistently, that’s why we only use the best analysts and tipsters in the UK and Ireland to give their advice on this page. Previous performance is no guarantee of future success and you should only bet with what you can afford to lose.

Tip 1 - 2:00 Wetherby - Mister Smarty

Mister Smarty has been pretty consistent since landing over course and distance here on Boxing Day without getting over the line. There’s been a suspicion that the trip was a little too far for him and the return to two miles should suit nicely. Alan Doyle has been the regular pilot for him, which should be a great advantage in this conditional handicap hurdle.

Tip 2 - 2:30 Wetherby - Micks Jet

A course-and-distance winner here in January, Micks Jet has since attempted two 3m trips to no avail and returns to her preferred distance for this one. The seven-year-old won extremely comfortably in that C&D win, easing home by 18 lengths, and even though she faces a whopping 12lb rise from that outing, it’s actually a 2lb drop from her last trip so should be used to that extra weight by now.

Tip 3 - 3:17 Exeter - Le Ligerien

There’s not a whole lot of useful form to go on from this season for this race, aside from Le Ligerien’s win at Lingfield in December. He raced with real enthusiasm that day, finally taking advantage of his declining mark before he turned 12 years old. On recent form, the only danger appears to be Stoner’s Choice. He’s not run over fences since 2022, though, and is opposable on that basis. Veterans’ races can be a bit of a minefield, but Le Ligerien looks the safest option.

Tip 4 - 3.35 Wetherby - Grand Albert

Last time he raced at Wetherby in a small field, Grand Albert scored easily, winning by 25 lengths. He was raised 10lb for that win, but a disappointing run next time out has seen him get three of those back. However, he did bump into Myretown in that race, who subsequently looked thrown in when winning the Ultima at Cheltenham. Back in calmer waters, he can dictate from the front and will take some stopping.

What Are the Average Advised Odds of Our Tips?

We tip a minimum of 3 horses per day across the UK and Irish racing and the average starting price of our selections is a remarkable 4/1 over hundred and hundreds of tips this year.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).

The best place is always on the racecourse but that’s not very practical so when it’s not on terrestrial TV with the likes of Sky Sports Racing and ITV (or ITV 4) then the best way to get instant access to live pictures is with a live streaming bookmaker – try these three below for the best of the bunch.
