The Tour de France is back for another year, with the 2024 and 111th edition of the historic bike race beginning in the picturesque setting of Florence in Italy for the Grand Depart. The first four stages took place in the country before heading into France and get ready for the high mountains in the Alps and Pyrenees. For the first time in the history of the race, it will not finish with a processional stage along the Champs-Élysées because of the Olympics and Paralympics being held in Paris. This means cycling fans will be able to bet on the winner of the Tour right through to the last stage on their favourite betting apps.

With it being such an iconic race with huge interest around the world, there are some great free bet offers you can take advantage of from the best UK betting sites around. Jonas Vingegaard is coming off winning the last two editions of the Tour, but he has not raced since he had an awful crash in the Tour of the Basque Country. In his absence, former two-time winner Tadej Pogacar has been imperious, dominating the field in the Giro d'Italia, and he is the favourite with most UK betting sites to regain his crown and do the historic Giro-Tour double. Pogacar was able to take the yellow jersey on just the second stage of the Tour and reaffirmed his dominance on the fourth stage, but will he be able to defend it throughout the whole three weeks? Mark Cavendish managed to break Eddy Merckx's all-time stage victory record and now is alone at the top of the pile on 35 career wins.

Tour de France Yellow Jersey Odds

Jonas Vingegaard has been able to grind Tadej Pogacar down in the mountains of the last two Tour de France editions, but this time around, the best betting sites think it will be the Slovenian Pgacar who will be adding to his two Tour de France wins he has already. Pogacar was hugely impressive in winning the Giro d'Italia by nearly 10 minutes earlier this season, but no one has completed the Giro, Tour double in the same year since Marco Pantani did it in 1998.

Vingegaard is coming back from a horror crash that left him with a punctured lung, fractured ribs and fractured collarbone at the Tour of the Basque Country in April. The fact he's even made the start line is incredible, but can he still be competitive when we hit the Pyrenees? There could be some value to be had each way on someone like Adam Yates who is a team-mate of Pogacar or on another team leader such as Ineos Grenadiers' Carlos Rodriguez or Primoz Roglic of Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe. Find the latest betting odds right here.

Tour de France 2024 Betting Tip

There are question marks at the top of the betting for this Tour de France. Pogacar is a prohibitive favourite given how recently he last raced at the Giro, while Vingegaard has no guarantee that he will be the same rider after his crash. A rider who was storming home in the Giro last year before having to withdraw with COVID-19 and was shorter on the market at this time last year is Remco Evenepoel. He was caught up in the same crash as Vingegaard and broke his collarbone and scapula. However, he was able to recover to take part in the important Pre-Tour race, the Criterium de Dauphine. While he only finished seventh overall, that could help give him the fitness for a tilt at the title.

Back Remco Evenepoel to win the Tour de France at 66/1 with Betfred.
