Most Bet On Week 18 Games: Playoff Scenarios Greet NY Bettors
Week 18 of the NFL betting season arrives in time to welcome New York to the list of states with legal, online sports betting. When New York sports betting goes live at 9:01 a.m. ET on Saturday, the Empire State will become the most-populous state in the union with legal mobile wagering.
Three providers – DraftKings New York, FanDuel New York and Caesars Sportsbook New York – are expected to launch in time to take live and futures action on the end of the regular season and the playoffs.
With nearly 300 playoff scenarios still on the board, the NFL has achieved nirvana when it comes to playoff parity. For sportsbooks and betting apps, this means there are a handful of games where both teams are playing for either a playoff berth or a division title.
Of the eight divisions in the league, the AFC East and NFC West remain undecided. In the AFC, the Titans, Chiefs, Patriots and Bills remain in the chase for the No. 1 overall spot and a first-round bye. Five other teams will play for the remaining two wild card spots. The NFC has six teams that have already clinched postseason berths. Green Bay has locked up the No. 1 seed. Two teams – New Orleans and San Francisco – are vying for the final playoff spot.

Week 18 NFL Betting Trends
Chalk Continues Late-Season Surge
This betting season featured a run of success early that saw underdogs hitting more than 60% of the time. It also saw the single worst week for the books since the door was opened for legalized betting across the nation in 2018. This battle between dogs and chalk – not so surprisingly – is on the verge of ending in a draw. Heading into Week 18, underdogs hold just a 130-122-3 (51.6%) edge over betting favorites. Oddsmakers deserve a nod for this near-perfect balance, especially during a season rocked by players lost and games postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
Double-digit favorites have fared quite well, showcasing the gap between the haves and have-nots across the league. They are 26-17-3 (60.5%) ATS during the season. This week, there are four games with double-digit lines. The Bills (-16) over the Jets, the Colts (-15) against the Jaguars, the Titans (-10) at the Texans and the Chiefs (-11.5) versus the Broncos.
New York bettors should keep an eye out for special deals when online betting goes live on Saturday morning. But you can also sign up early now and grab a $100 free bet bonus at both DraftKings and FanDuel by using the latest DraftKings promo code and FanDuel promo code. You must be in the state of New York to qualify.
