With Jurgen Klopp announcing he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after a period of unprecedented success in the Premier League era for the club, they are on the lookout for a new manager. He took over the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2015 and led them to six major trophies, including the team’s first Premier League title in 2020 and a Champions League in 2019. Now that Klopp has made his decision with Liverpool chasing a treble, the best football betting sites have had a priced up market on which manager will be taking on the role next.

There have been a number of candidates linked with the role by UK betting sites since the announcement, and it now appears that the previously odds-on favourite Ruben Amorim is on shaky ground, after it was reported he has held talks about replacing David Moyes at West Ham. Klopp’s assistant Pep Ljinders has been among the favourites, alongside Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann. Xabi Alonso, who has done such a brilliant job with Bayer Leverkusen this year, was the overall favourite as soon as the market opened, but he has announced he will be staying with Leverkusen for the time being, opening the door for Sporting CP manager Amorim. However, it now appears to much a much more open race with the likes of Arne Slot and Gary O'Neil being linked with the role. Indeed, Feyenoord manager Slot, who turned down Tottenham last summer, is seen as the odds-on favourite for the job.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou entered the market, leading betting sites to price up the next Tottenham manager market too. With the announcement that Thomas Tuchel will leave as Bayern Munich manager, the German has also entered this manager market and is now among the favourites.

Sporting's Ruben Amorim Enters The Picture

After a week of little movement in the next Liverpool manager betting market there has been a plunge on current Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim. The 39 year old is on his 4th job in management following spells at Casa Pia, Braga B, and Braga, and is drawing admiring glances from Merseyside with Sporting sitting at the top of the Portuguese league table.

Amorim has been touted as one of the games next top managers for a number of years now, with Sporting themselves paying €10 million for his services to sign him from Braga. He certainly fits the profile of managers FSG have looked to sign in the past, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Amorim made the switch to Anfield.

Club Legend Xabi Alonso Making Waves at Bayer Leverkusen

Xabi Alonso has long been thought of as a potential future Liverpool manager after his brilliant playing career with the club led them to an FA Cup and Champions League before moving on to Real Madrid. Alonso took on his first major managerial role with Bayer Leverkusen in October 2022, and he has taking to management like a duck to water.

At the time of writing, Leverkusen are the only club in Europe’s top five leagues that are still unbeaten and lead Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga by four points at the halfway stage. He would be an immensely popular appointment and is the favourite with some new betting sites, but it seems the Anfield club have identified targets that might be easier to land.

Roberto De Zerbi A Popular Name With Bookies

Roberto De Zerbi has won many plaudits around the Premier League and further afield for the swashbuckling style he has his Brighton team playing, but sooner or later a bigger team is likely to come calling for him. Will Liverpool be that team? He certainly tries to keep his team playing the way that Liverpool fans expect, and there is a ceiling at Brighton give their model of buy low, sell high on players.

Would he consider an approach from the Reds hierarchy? Odds at most football betting sites would suggest he will be a name under consideration at the very least, as he now sits second in the betting with most of the best betting sites.

Liverpool Not Looking to Rock The Boat With Ljinders

Pep Ljinders has been an assistant with Klopp for his whole time at the Reds save for a brief five-month period where he managed NEC in his native Netherlands. Otherwise, he has been Klopp’s right-hand man throughout the successful tenure and is one of the names in the frame the take on the role full-time with most betting apps.

It is likely that Ljinders would be given a glowing reference by Klopp for the role, though Sir Alex Ferguson hand-picking David Moyes to replace him at Manchester United didn’t go as planned. For this reason, perhaps the Liverpool owners FSG will cast the net a bit further when looking at candidates.

Steven Gerrard a Long Shot

When Steven Gerrard led Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in 10 years, he appeared to be a Liverpool manager in waiting. The club legend and former captain then took on the same manager role at Aston Villa, and despite a positive start to his reign, he was sacked in October after winning just two of their first 12 Premier League games of the season. He has since taken charge of Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and does have the same managerial cache at present to be considered a front-runner.
