Players Championship Tips

This week's tournament will feature the top 64 players in the world rankings, and with a cheque for £120,000 up for grabs, it promises to be a great three days of action. 

The format is simple. The first two rounds are the best of 11 legs, the third round and quarter-finals are played over 19 legs. The semi-finals and final will be the best of 21 legs. 

Michael van Gerwen is aiming to win back-to-back Players Championship titles and his eighth overall. MVG beat Rob Cross 11-6 in last year's final, which included a 170 checkout by the Dutchman. Coral has odds of 5/1 for Van Gerwen to win back-to-back Players Championship titles.

The top seeds should all make it past the opening couple of rounds given the draw for the tournament. World number one Gerwyn Price takes on world number 64 Ricky Evans, while world number two Gary Anderson plays world number 63 Steve Beaton for a place in the next round and so on.
