We all know those immortal words ‘I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones we used to know’ from Bing Crosby, and most people still hold that sentiment dear to their hearts. However, the UK weather doesn’t traditionally like to pay attention to the wants and needs of its inhabitants.

So, every year millions of people lie in hope that there will be snow on the ground when they wake up on Christmas Day, but just how likely is it? And, is there a way to make some money out of it? The answer to the latter is an emphatic yes as UK betting sites have been pricing up the likelihood of snow on 25th December, while we will attempt to answer the former in this article.

You can find the latest betting odds from the best betting apps of snow on Christmas day listed below.

As with many things in the UK, there appears to be something of a north/south divide when it comes to whether snow falls after Father Christmas has been down the chimney to drop some presents off or not. Indeed, between the years of 1960 and 2016 the south-east/south had just 10 years where snow fell on Christmas Day, while in the north-east/north, there were 24 years of white Christmases. In that same time period, northern Scotland saw 34 years of waking up to a White Christmas. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to see the north of the UK dominate the odds on which city will see snow this year.

According to the Met Office, since 1960 just over half of the years on record has seen at least some snow somewhere in the UK. This means that more than half of Christmas Days have indeed been a white Christmas, which is why some new betting sites have odds on who might see it in their city. Now would also be a great time to sign up with a new betting site with the help of Bookies.com so that you can secure some great free bets to use on whether there will be a white Christmas where you are or not, or on any sporting market as you get snuggled up in the warm this winter.

Odds on a White Christmas 2024

Lots of Apple Pay betting sites and Trustly betting sites have odds available on whether snow will fall at specific airports dotted around the UK. Suffice to say, the more northerly the airport the shorter the odds for snow to fall, which means there could be some real value to be had on places that perhaps haven’t seen snow for a while.

Last year, many parts of the UK had to make do without building a snowman or having a snowball fight as a number of places saw their highest minimum daily temperature on record for Christmas Day. It wasn't all doom and gloom for those would-be Christmas Day sledders, however, as two places in Scotland saw snow in Tulloch Bridge and Aviemore. So 2023 was a White Christmas but perhaps not for enough people. Here's to hoping we can see the snowflakes falling as we enjoy some well-earned family time on 25th December this year!
