Burnley v Chelsea betting tips – Blues to cruise to clean sheet victory

“We’ve been working on playing against a team who are defensive"

Diego Costa can fire Chelsea to a comfortable victory at Turf Moor

You get what you pay for and Chelsea will demonstrate that their spending power trumps Burnley when the pair meet in front of the Sky Sports cameras this evening.

The Clarets are facing a battle of inequality when they face their nineteen rivals in the Premier League this term, although Sean Dyche didn’t have one of the bigger Championship budgets and still managed to steer his team to second behind Leicester.

Even so, staying in the top flight looks like a tall order and Chelsea can expose their shortcomings tonight with a victory without conceding a goal, something that can be backed at 13/10 with Betway.

John Terry is still a top defender in the Premier League despite age creeping up, while Gary Cahill is an excellent sidekick and Thibaut Courtois could begin a very long reign between the sticks.

Indeed, it’s easy enough to see Chelsea standing in the way of Burnley finding the net this evening, with Clarets trying to make themselves compact rather than be too offensive about a team that could kill them on the counter-attack.

Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian are expected to operate as the attacking trident behind Diego Costa, with Jose Mourinho believing that this is the strongest ever Chelsea side he has had at his disposal.

“We need more quality in our game,” he said. “We’ve been working on playing against a team who are defensive, trying to close every road to goal. We have to improve in terms of character, but we need more quality.

“In certain matches, when you don’t have space and time to play, you need more quality. We are working in that direction, to play against teams who are very compact, to play against teams with 10 players behind the ball.

“We have worked on exactly that in training, expecting a team to be defensive and try to close every road to goal.

“The team as a team has to be better in these matches,” he said. “We have to be a better team than we were last season and I believe these players can help us.

“My squad is very good, not perfect, but it’s very good. It has characters and personalities, it has people with ambition. We covered many positions. I’m very happy with the squad”.
