In the land of college football betting, the dog is king. That’s why Bookies.com is teaming up with a different animal shelter each week throughout the season to find dogs in need of a loving home.

College football handicapper Dan Kilbridge will start by examining the college football spreads at sportsbooks and picking his favorite underdog to cover the spread or win straight up that week. We then connect with a shelter near that team’s campus to share one lovable dog who could complete your family huddle.

It’s all about cashing bets and rescuing pets with Dog of the Week.

We’re cruising along with just two weeks remaining in the regular season, and Dog of the Week isn’t slowing down as the conference races and CFP rankings heat up. We’ve got our eye on two more winners this week – Arizona is a +14.5 underdog at Washington State on betting apps, and Riven Roo is a two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix looking to enter the transfer portal in the desert.

Before we dive in, good news to report: Hamburger, Bunny and Tanner, three dogs we’ve featured this year, have all been adopted. Fletcher, Billie Jean, Pollo, Riot, Monarch, Jerry and Bevo, the other dogs we’ve featured, are still looking for a home. Let's get all these pups adopted.

The Pick: Arizona +14.5 over Washington State

Betting on Arizona has not been a profitable decision over the past decade. The Wildcats have actually been one of the worst bets in sports throughout that stretch. Having said that, we actually like what we’re seeing from Arizona recently and think there could be value here because the reputation is still terrible.

The Wildcats gave Utah a scare in last week’s 38-29 loss, and they recently picked up their first win since 2019 with a 10-3 victory over Cal. Arizona has also covered in four straight games and sits at 6-4 against the spread this season.

You wouldn’t know it based on the 1-9 record, but this is a big improvement from year’s past in which Arizona usually had an awful record and failed to cover each week. Arizona also hasn’t lost by more than nine points over the last four games. These Wildcats are clearly playing hard and seeing small gains under first-year coach Jedd Fisch.

Arizona’s defense is actually pretty solid on paper – better than Washington State’s, with just 367.3 yards allowed per game. Offensively it’s been a struggle, but the Wildcats are getting more production from the passing game in recent weeks and the Cougars are vulnerable in the secondary.

Overall, Arizona is playing much better than it has in recent years and improving in a way that doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet. These Wildcats don’t quit, and those are the types of teams we love when they’re getting a lot of points.

We’re on Arizona +14.5. Bet on it at Caesars Sportsbook.

The Pup: Riven Roo

Riven Roo is a two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog Mix with plenty of energy. This handsome Phoenix puppy would do great in an adults-only home with a backyard to run around in. Riven Roo loves to play fetch and is extremely sweet and obedient with people he trusts.

You can find out more about Riven Roo at the Arizona Small Dog Rescue.
