NFL Survivor Pools have exploded in popularity, and at levels for all kinds of fans, from family pools to those with thousands of dollars in cash prizes on the line.
The simple nature of it is a major draw for NFL betting: Survivor Pools entail picking one team to win each week, but never picking the same team twice.
It's not how much your team wins by in a Survivor Pool. Simply, it's about picking a winner and moving on — and sometimes saving the biggest favorite for a future week.
Here is the pick for Week 12:
Cleveland Browns
There is a strong trend that has emerged for the Browns (7-3). They struggle against good teams and cruise past the overmatched. Against teams with a current winning record, Cleveland is just 1-3. They were routed by the Ravens and Steelers and managed just six points in a loss to the Raiders. They did beat the Colts 32-23.
Against sub-.500 teams, however, the Browns are 6-0. Those first four games they averaged a ridiculous 38.8 ppg. Their last two were in torrential rain, yet they still outscored the Texans and Eagles.
Sunday’s opponent, the Jaguars (1-9), rank 30th in total defense. Cleveland should lay 30-plus in sunny Florida. QB Gardner Minshew might be back for Jacksonville, and DE Myles Garrett won’t play for the Browns — two items in the Jaguars’ favor. But it’s not enough.
This is the third week taking the team facing the Jaguars. That’s normally not a great long term strategy, but the Jags have lost nine straight, six of those by more than a TD.
It would have been nice to hold on to the Browns for Week 15 or 16 with the Giants and Jets coming up. But with limited options in a challenging Week 12 slate, it’s time to cash in Cleveland.

Other Week 12 contenders:
Las Vegas Raiders: The Raiders looked strong coming out of their bye week, losing to the Chiefs because of Patrick Mahomes’ heroics. The Falcons looked atrocious vs. the Saints.
Los Angeles Rams: The Rams are the better team on paper, but the Niners get a load of reinforcements back from injury.
