Everton are needing to get back to scoring ways and tonight presents them with the ideal chance to do that as they face Swiss side Young Boys in the Europa League last 32 stage.
The Toffees have been having difficulty in finding the back of the net, indeed their last four outings have contained a grand total of just two goals. Nevertheless, we should expect a much more entertaining contest when they head to Switzerland tonight to take on Young Boys in the first leg.
Indeed, the Swiss side presents Everton with an ideal chance to progress further in this competition. To be fair, only Danish side Aalborg or French cup winners Guingamp could have provided weaker opposition in this round and following Everton’s success in the group stages of this competition, an away win looks very much to be on the cards here.
Regarding recent results, the Swiss side seem to bet involved in high-scoring encounters, especially of late. Two of their previous three league outings have finished 4-2 to Young Boys and their home record is excellent this season. They won all three of their Group stage home games with clean sheets, including a surprise 2-0 victory over Serie A side Napoli and conceded just one goal in their two wins in the qualifying stage.
As a result, this match will be a real test for a Toffees side who have managed just one goal in three matches, however the Merseyside team have well exceeded all expectations in this season’s Europa League and as such, we expect them to scrape an away win which will put them in an excellent position ahead of the reverse fixture at Goodison Park.
