It's starting to increasingly look as though we have a Premier League top five this season. Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle it out for the title, and fourth spot could be a straight shootout between Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the latest odds from football betting sites. Though Manchester United are trying hard to make it a top six, with four wins in a row.

Despite finishing fourth in the standings last season, the bookies think there's little chance that Newcastle United will qualify for the Champions League once again. However, the Villans are just shy of odds-on after securing a return of 49 points from 25 games played. Their home form has been especially strong this season.

Can Aston Villa Remain in Top Four This Season?

Aston Villa finished seventh in the Premier League last season, with Unai Emery representing an upgrade on Steven Gerrard and steering the team in an upwards direction. The Villans continue to perform at a high level under their Spanish manager. It's no fluke that they sit fourth in the table after a drab draw in the most recent game against Everton.

It now appears out of the question that Villa could challenge for the Premier League title this season, although it's more pertinent to talk about the two-point advantage that is held over Tottenham Hotspur at this stage. Emery will hope for Ollie Watkins to stay fit during the second half of the season considering the England forward is scoring goals for fun this season, although there are lots of other star turns within the squad.

Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby and Douglas Luiz were all among the scorers recently against Burnley, with John McGinn having an outstanding season for the Midlands club.

Chelsea Unlikely to Land Champions League Spot

Nobody could have forecasted that Chelsea would finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table last season, but it was a car crash of a season for the biggest spenders in the league, and it's a tall order to see them landing a top-four spot this season.

Chelsea currently sit 10th in the standings after a modest return of 35 points from 25 games played. They are 14 points off fourth place and have suffered heavy defeats to Liverpool and Wolves in recent times, but their win ovr Crystal Palace at Manchester City will have earned Mauricio Pochettino breathing room.

Even so, the excellent form of Cole Palmer along with the return of Christopher Nkunku from injury means there's a possibility that Chelsea could put together the sort of run that would see them launch an assault on the top four.

Manchester United Outsiders in Top-Four Race

Manchester United have experienced a difficult 2023/24 campaign to date. Erik ten Hag has one of the Sack Race betting favourites at different points this season, but the Red Devils have closed to within five points of fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Betting sites only give United an outside chance of repeating last season's top-four finish, and the competition appears to be stiff. Tottenham are trading at shorter odds than the Red Devils, and it appears as though a Europa competition is a more likely destination next term.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has recently bought a stake at Old Trafford, and perhaps there will be a revamp of the squad in the next two transfer windows, although the lack of long-term planning at United is coming back to haunt them.

Tottenham Still Contenders in Top-Four Market

Tottenham Hotspur fans were bracing themselves for a transitional season, with Ange Postecoglou taking the reins and immediately seeing Harry Kane sign for Bayern Munich and leaving a big hole as a result.

However, the Australian managed to enjoy an extended honeymoon period that saw Spurs take 26 points from their first 10 matches. Although the team then suffered a blip, they have a solid return of 47 points from 25 played.

Postecoglou is a huge fan favourite, and the Australian has recently seen his team claim two victories in the past four matches, and Heung-Min Son should be back from the AFC Asian Cup soon.

Newcastle Now Outsiders to Retain Top-Four Spot

It's been a draining season for Newcastle United, who currently sit eighth in the Premier League table. The Magpies are 12 points off the required pace, but their form has improved somewhat recently with two wins and two draws in their last four games.

The bookies now take a dimmer view of Newcastle's prospects of qualifying for the Champions League again, with prices as high as 33/1 for Eddie Howe's side who lost consecutive top-flight clashes against Luton, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Man City earlier this season.

Liverpool Bankers For a Champions League Return

Liverpool had been Champions League regulars since Jurgen Klopp took charge at Anfield, but the Merseyside outfit are playing in the Europa League this season after finishing in fifth place last time out.

While the Reds were in outstanding form towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, they ultimately left things too late in their bid to leapfrog Newcastle United and Manchester United. Sports betting apps anticipate that Jurgen Klopp's side can return to the European top table within the next 10 months, with Liverpool massive odds-on to secure fourth place or higher this season.

Liverpool top the table with 57 points from 25 games played and are potentially the best Reds team since Klopp came to the club. They have only been defeated twice this season in the league, unjustly against Tottenham and to Arsenal.

Manchester City Massive Odds-On to Land Top-Four Spot

Manchester City are surely a certainty to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, despite the fact that they sit second in the table. A recent 3-2 win against Newcastle along with the return to fitness of Kevin De Bruyne, has restored the feel good factor around the club.

Although Pep Guardiola's side are playing catch-up with Liverpool, it's a big stretch to imagine them missing out on a top-four finish and we know that City traditionally produce the goods when it comes to the second half of the season.

Can Arsenal Repeat Last Season's Title Charge?

Arsenal are back in the Champions League, and they'll be determined to stay there for many seasons to come. The Gunners were one of the surprise packages last season when finishing second in the Premier League table, and they will be aiming to go one better this season.

There has been a healthy return of 55 points from the team's first 25 games. Arteta remains focused on winning the title with Arsenal and it would be a major surprise if the London outfit slipped out of the top four this season.

Brighton's Top-Four Prospects Starting to Falter

Brighton & Hove Albion secured a top-six finish in the Premier League last term which earned them the right to play in the Europa League this season. The Seagulls were able to surpass the 60-point mark and they will now look to fare even better to challenge for a top-four spot.

The early signs looked promising, with Brighton sitting pretty after a 3-1 win over Bournemouth on 24 September. However, Roberto De Zerbi's team are slipping further from the top-four positions. The Seagulls are currently 11 points off the required pace as they continue to be too inconsistent this season.
