There are a number of odds boosts on the biggest and most important player and team props of a given sports day. Again, these ongoing promotions will probably not require an ESPN bet promo code for existing users to enter to claim each time.

There could be insurance on certain bet types that players their funds back in the form of bonus bets if their wager is unsuccessful, same-game parlays on the biggest markets in sports, and some type of rewards program that allows players to earn and redeem points for even more ESPN BET bonuses.

Where Claiming an ESPN Bet Promo Code Be Legal?

What To Know About ESPN BET Sportsbook

As part of a $1.5 billion agreement, PENN Entertainment has rebranded its sportsbook as ESPN BET sportsbook. PENN Entertainment will pay ESPN $1.5 billion in cash over a 10-year period, marking the media giant’s first toe-dip into the online sports betting space.

Sports bettors now see ESPN Bet sportsbook replace Barstool Sportsbook as the front-facing brand, with original Barstool owner Dave Portnoy gaining back control of Barstool Sports in conjunction with this deal between ESPN and Penn Entertainment.

PENN Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden expected the ESPN Bet platform to launch in more than a dozen states, "before Thanksgiving" and that plan has come to fruition. ESPN Bet looks to gain an audience and following with its different mediums, including its website, TV stations, apps, and ESPN personalities lending a hand to establish the ESPN brand for legal online sports betting just as we get to the business end of the NFL season and the College Football season.

It was a matter of when, not if, the ESPN brand would wade into the online sports betting space. It’s found its partner in Penn Entertainment, which previously had a deal with Barstool Sports to host the Barstool sportsbook.

Sports bettors have seen that deal in place since 2020 and now shifts when they launch ESPN Bet. ESPN Bet hosts the online sportsbook in more than a dozen states. DraftKings was once thought to be the answer for ESPN’s pursuit of to launch ESPN bet, but that never came to fruition, and the media mogul had an odds deal with Caesars Sportsbook to showcase their specific odds on television programs, websites, and mobile apps.

So it’s no surprise that this deal between Penn Entertainment and ESPN has happened. ESPN has a number of different TV segments focused specifically on sports betting-related content, and their game broadcasts will routinely feature a sports betting market.

They even launched a sports betting show - The Daily Wager - years ago. Bettors are able to access the ESPN Bet sportsbook through their ESPN mobile apps, meaning the user experience will be second to none for sports fans betting in the online sportsbook market.

Is ESPN Bet Legit?

Yes, ESPN Bet is a fully legitimate, legal, and licensed online sportsbook. It operates the same way that all major online sportsbooks do. It is regulated by the respective state commissions in the states where it has launched, so bettors can make wagers knowing that their information is safe and their funds are secure.

It’s the first major media outlet to wade directly into the online sports betting industry, which could create a perceived conflict of interest with reporters that have inside information and, thus, could influence odds. But it’s important to note that ESPN has nothing to do with odds that are set, those will all come from Penn Entertainment. ESPN is simply the host platform for the existing online sportsbook, so there are ethical concerns about the odds that are set.

ESPN Bet Pros and Cons

Pros

Awesome sports betting app: The new ESPN BET app is going to be a state-of-the-art sports betting app where you are able to bet on all of your favorite sports from the comfort of your palm via your mobile device. This app is fast, responsive, and best of all, a lot of fun to use.

ESPN-backed product: ESPN is the sports media leader in North America, and now it has its very own sportsbook with ESPN BET. With such a massive media brand backing it, we can only imagine that it will help legitimize this sportsbook.

Cons

Perceived conflict of interest: Although PENN Entertainment is the one setting the betting odds, there will always be a perceived conflict of interest since ESPN of course televises the same sports that the ESPN BET app takes bets on. Again, this is just a perceived conflict of interest, but it still has to be stated.

Limiting winners:  Big winners are limited, in line with how other apps operate.

Brand new app: The new app has kinks to work out. Although we can say with certainty that the new ESPN BET app is state-of-the-art, we should also point out that it is a new app, meaning there are some kinks to work out as well.

Banking At ESPN BET

One of the main reasons we recommend using legal and licensed online sportsbooks, compared with overseas sportsbooks, is that banking is made incredibly simple.

Players at the ESPN BET online sportsbook are able to use a host of major banking methods to fund their accounts, including credit/debit cards, online bank transfers, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, PayNearMe, and others. Deposits can be used immediately, and withdrawals hit your account within a matter of days, and in some cases, it's typically much quicker than that.

What Happened To Barstool Sportsbook?

There are a number of reasons why PENN Entertainment replaced Barstool with ESPN Bet, but the lack of market share compared to its investment is the biggest. Barstool Sportsbook struggled to make a dent going against established giants like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars.

While it's true that Barstool has grown exponentially over the last decade under the guidance of Portnoy, ESPN has hundreds of millions of users, multiple television stations, and hosts some of the biggest events in sports, including Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Baseball, and the NBA Finals.
