UFC Vegas 304 Main Event Best Bet

Leon Edwards (-218) vs. Belal Muhammad (+180)

In the main event of UFC 304, UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards fights Belal Muhammad. Edwards is a -218 favorite at most betting apps and I like him to get the win in this rematch after their first fight ended with a No Contest in 2021.

Edwards is 32 and he is 14-2, 1 NC in the UFC. The Jamaican-born Brit has been in the UFC since 2014 and he moved up the welterweight division over the years until pulling off a massive upset over Kamaru Usman in 2022 to claim the title. Edwards is a tough out for anyone because he is such a skilled technical striker with solid takedown defense. It makes it very difficult for anyone to fight Edwards and it’s why he is the champion. After a No Contest due to an eye poke in his first meeting with Muhammad, Edwards is now looking to put a stamp on this matchup.

Muhammad is 36 and he is 14-3, 1 NC in the UFC. A member of the UFC roster dating back to 2016, Muhammad has steadily risen the ranks over the years to earn this title fight with Edwards. Muhammad is one of the top wrestlers in the UFC welterweight division and he also has improved his striking, making him one of the top contenders in the division. He has fought Edwards once and the fight ended via No Contest due to an eye poke. It will be interesting to see what adjustments Muhammad makes in this rematch for the title three years later.

Although Muhammad has made considerable improvements in his striking, Edwards should still have the advantage on the feet. In what should be a competitive fight that goes five rounds, I am leaning toward Edwards winning the fight by decision. Take Edwards to win as a -218 favorite and take him to win by decision for a prop.

Other UFC 304 Best Bets

Tom Aspinall (-360) vs. Curtis Blaydes (+300)

In the co-main event, UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall fights Curtis Blaydes in a rematch. These two fought two years ago, and I picked Blaydes to win that fight as the underdog, which he did so when Aspinall was injured during the first round. But in this rematch, I have to go with Aspinall to avenge that defeat in a rematch as a -360 favorite.

Aspinall is 31 and he is 7-1 in the UFC. The Brit joined the UFC in 2020 and quickly took the heavyweight division by storm with five straight finishes. He then got a main event fight in England against Blaydes, but suffered an injury in the first round and lost via TKO.

After taking a year off to recover, Aspinall returned to the cage and won two straight fights by stoppage to become the new UFC interim heavyweight champion. He has some of the best grappling skills in the weight class and he also has knockout power, making him a tough out for anyone. He now gets the opportunity to avenge that first loss to Blaydes in Manchester in this fight.

Blaydes is 33 and he is 13-4, 1 NC in the UFC. The American is one of the best wrestlers in the UFC heavyweight division and he has nasty ground and pound as well, with eight of his wins coming by knockout. Blaydes is difficult to fight because he is so good at wrestling and he is also a decent striker as well. However, the biggest issue for Blaydes is his chin, which has let him down four times in the UFC. Going up against a powerful opponent in Aspinall who can also wrestle, this appears to be a tough stylistic matchup for Blaydes. However, he does have the wrestling and the knockout power in his own right to at least make this an interesting title fight.

As long as Aspinall doesn’t get injured during the fight again, I like him to win this fight. He should be much faster than Blaydes on the feet and he should have the knockout power to put his lights out. Take Aspinall to win as a -360 favorite and take him to win by knockout for a prop.

Muhammad Mokaev (-120) vs. Manel Kape (+100)

In the flyweight division, Muhammad Mokaev battles Manel Kape. Although Kape is a +100 underdog, I like him for the upset win.

Mokaev is 23 and he is 6-0 in the UFC. The Brit has been a member of the UFC since 2022 and he has won all of his fights so far, with four submissions and two decisions to his name. His wrestling is very good and he has the submission skills to bail himself out if he gets into trouble. However, his striking is still a work in progress. When he takes on a fighter who can keep the fight standing, then Mokaev can potentially find himself in trouble if he can’t get the takedown.

Kape is 30 and he is 4-2 in the UFC. The Angola native started his UFC career with two straight losses but he quickly bounced back with four straight wins to become a serious contender at 125 lbs. He has won two fights by knockout and has proven himself to be one of the best strikers in the weight class. His takedown defense is also excellent, making him a very tough out for anyone in his division, and this fight with Mokaev should prove to be a litmus test.

Kape has excellent takedown defense and is the far superior striker on the feet, so I am looking at an upset in this one. Go with Kape as a +100 dog to win and take him to win by decision.
