Luton Town are searching for a new manager following Rob Edwards' sacking at the club following a run of four straight defeats and 10 losses away from home on the bounce. Edwards took over from former boss Nathan Jones in 2022 and led them to the promised land of the Premier League. However, he wasn't able to keep them from being relegated after one season.

This year they were expected to challenge for promotion and return straight back up, with most betting sites giving them a decent shot of doing just that. At the time of Edwards' departure, the club sit in a lowly 20th position and are just two points above the relegation zone, causing the board to make a change. With a number of names linked at the best football betting sites, there is sure to be plenty of interest in who will replace Edwards.

Former Millwall and Cardiff manager Neil Harris is the early front-runner, while Steven Schumacher and David Moyes are are other names in the frame on betting apps, with Luton looking for someone who can keep the club afloat in the Championship this season.

Steve Cooper Willing to Drop Down to Championship?

Steve Cooper made his name in the Championship with an eye-catching spell in charge of Swansea City before departing for Nottingham Forest, taking them from the relegation zone into the Premier League via the playoffs in the same season.

He then kept Forest up before departing last season. Cooper took up a role with Forest's arch-rivals Leicester in the summer, but it never looked a good fit. Will he be interested in dropping back down into the Championship again, or will he bide his time waiting for a Premier League gig again? Most Trustly betting sites think he could be a good shout for the role.

Schumacher An Experienced Football League Hand

Luton Town will be casting the net far and wide to find the right candidate to replace Rob Edwards and keep them in the Championship. Perhaps they will approach former Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher, who got promoted with the Pilgrims before a spell in charge of Stoke City ended earlier this season.

Schumacher is likely to be a name that interests the Luton hierarchy in their search for a new boss, And odds at Apple Pay betting sites suggest he could be a strong candidate.

Former Premier League Managers Next in the Luton Town Betting

There are a number of recently departed Premier League managers who appear to be viable candidates for this role, with the likes of David Moyes, Gary O'Neil and Russell Martin all in the frame, according to the best betting sites in the UK. Moyes was most recently in charge of West Ham until the summer, where he led the team impressively including to a first European trophy in the form of the Europa Conference League in 2023. It remains to be seen if he'd be willing to manage in the Championship after all this time.

Gary O'Neil performed creditably at Bournemouth before being shown the door, and he did the same last season for an unfancied Wolves side. however, he wasn't able to keep that up and was shown the door by Wolves. He is still cutting his teeth in management so may see Luton as a positive step in his career. Martin has managed from League One to the Championship, so he has plenty of Football League experience despite being a young manager. Could he interest Luton?
