Next Manchester United Manager Odds

Erik ten Hag had a great first season in charge of Manchester United, but things have been a good deal tougher in his second season. The Red Devils were dumped out of Europe before Christmas and weren't ever really been in the fight to qualify for a Champions League spot. Things have got worse in recent weeks, as they won just three of their last ten Premier League matches, with a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace thrown in the mix.

The best football betting sites had Ten Hag as the favourite to be the next manager sacked during the season and believe that Mauricio Pochettino was the chosen candidate to take over after leaving Chelsea by mutual consent. However, the outgoing Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is close to him in the betting, and Kieran McKenna is now the favourite on some betting apps. Ten Hag could keep the job after a fantastic win over Man City in the FA Cup final, but some reports suggest a decision on his future has already been made.

The best betting apps now have a Next Manchester United Manager betting market, with Mauricio Pochettino the favourites with most bookies as Kieran McKenna appears set to sign a new deal with Ipswich. Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has now shortened on the market. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has now purchased 25% of the club and might want to bring in the next Manchester United manager as he takes control of the football operations.

Thomas Tuchel has had success with an English club before, leading Chelsea to the Champions League in 2021, as well as the corresponding UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. His time at Chelsea was ended prematurely last season by Todd Boehly, and he took over at Bayern Munich, where he has disappointed domestically, However, he does have his team in the semi-finals of the Champions League, so he is likely to be a popular name for the biggest jobs this summer.

Could Gareth Southgate be Tempted Back into Club Management?

Gareth Southgate started out his managerial career with Middlesbrough, whom he finished his playing career with. He then went into the managerial wilderness for four years before taking charge of the England under-21 team and led them them with distinction before the top job with England came calling. He has led England to a World Cup semi-final and the final of Euro 2020, but there is a feeling that Euro 2024 is likely to be his last tournament in charge.

He is likely to be in demand after the job he has done with England, and many UK betting sites believe he could be the man called upon by Jim Ratcliffe and the Old Trafford hierarchy. If Ten Hag's team continue to flounder, they might want a replacement in sooner rather than later.

Could Potter Return to Premier League With Red Devils?

Graham Potter could be on the Manchester United radar, according to the bookies. INEOS billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has bought a 25% stake of the Red Devils, and it has been rumoured that he has already held talks with the former Brighton and Chelsea manager.

The Englishman was in charge of a high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion team a little over 12 months ago and who actually opened the 2022/23 season with a victory at Old Trafford. The Seagulls continued to soar under him to the extent that Chelsea under new ownership made an approach for him to replace Thomas Tuchel.

Potter decided to make the switch to Stamford Bridge but struggled to make an impact for the Blues in the Premier League. After being inflicted with over £200 million worth of signings during the January transfer window, the former Swansea boss was given his marching orders and has since been out of work after receiving a rather handsome pay out from Chelsea.

Zidane Among Favourites to Replace Ten Hag at United

Zinedine Zidane achieved great things with Real Madrid during his two spells with the giant Spanish club, with the Frenchman having won two La Liga titles at the Bernabeu, although his real legacy was landing three Champions League crowns. He has worked with some of the best players in the world - including Cristiano Ronaldo already - and might relish the challenge that could come available at Old Trafford.

There were strong rumours linking Zidane to the Manchester United hot seat when the 51-year-old left Real Madrid, and perhaps he would enjoy a project where there's a talented squad of players at his disposal who might be yet to realise their full potential.

He is among the favourites, but there is some doubt about how much desire Zidane has to work in English football. Reports from France have suggested in the past that Zidane is content to take a back seat from management while he waits for his old colleague Didier Deschamps to step aside from the national team job, although the latter continues in his role for now.

Lopetegui Could Also Be On United Hit List

Julen Lopetegui has shortened for the Manchester United job with the football betting sites, with the Spaniard having also been linked to the Nottingham Forest manager's role in the past few weeks. The 57-year-old was highly effective at Wolves last season in the Premier League and is regarded as a high calibre manager.

Lopetegui has previously had spells with Porto, the Spanish national team, Real Madrid and Sevilla. He was able to win the Europa League with the latter last season and would surely be open to the prospect of managing at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

There are rumours that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is an admirer of Lopetegui and the odds suggest that he could be in contention to replace Erik ten Hag.

Nagelsmann Could be Linked to Old Trafford Again

Julian Nagelsmann has achieved a lot in football management despite only being aged 36. The German took charge of Hoffenheim between 2016-2019 and impressed to the extent that he was poached by RB Leipzig. After a successful spell between 2019-2021, the former centre-back was then recruited by Bayern Munich, although the Bavarian club decided to replace him with Thomas Tuchel last season.

Nagelsmann has been appointed the Germany manager until after Euro 2024, but he's been linked to the Manchester United managerial post in the past by football betting sites. He is regarded as one of the brightest young managers in the game who is tactically astute and has a love of playing attacking football. It would be no surprise if Manchester United sounded him out for the position, especially if Ten Hag continues to struggle.

Much depends on whether the coach has an appetite to manage at a club who appear to have been overtaken by several of their counterparts right now. The landscape has changed since Sir Alex Ferguson steered United to their last title success in the 2012/13 season, and perhaps Nagelsmann would prefer to hold out for a different position.

Would De Zerbi Consider Switch After Leaving Seagulls?

Roberto de Zerbi appeared to be something of a left-field appointment when he replaced Graham Potter at Brighton last season, but the Italian has been a success at the Amex Stadium. The 44-year-old was able to steer Brighton to sixth place in the Premier League last term, and to compete in the Europa League. However, a poor run of form in the second half of the season saw him leave the club by mutual consent.

De Zerbi created an attacking team who averaged more than two goals per Premier League match. The former Sassuolo manager might well be approached by Manchester United if the latter are looking to make a change. Unless De Zerbi was given assurances that he would be able to transform the Red Devils squad without having signings imposed on him, this would likely represent a non-starter.

Could Carrick and McKenna Return to Old Trafford?

Michael Carrick has previously been part of management teams at Manchester United, and the current Middlesbrough boss might have an ambition to take charge of the Red Devils at some point in the future. Carrick enjoyed a 12-year playing career at Old Trafford and made 316 appearances for the Red Devils, helping the team to win five Premier League titles and a Champions League crown.

Carrick has been head coach of Middlesbrough since October 2022, with the former midfielder having steered Boro to the Championship play-offs last season, and he's currently tasked with engineering promotion to the top flight this season. However, there's another Football League manager with Manchester United connections who is also making waves. Kieran McKenna took the Manchester United under-18 manager's position in 2016 before working under Jose Mourinho at the club.

McKenna is impressing a lot of teams after guiding Championship Ipswich Town to the Premier League. This comes after engineering promotion from League One last season. Following a double promotion perhaps United would be interested in looking to bring McKenna back to the club and start a new project. At many top UK betting sites, he is now the favourite for the Old Trafford job.
