Premier League Relegation Odds 2024/25

Every season, the Premier League relegation battle is one of the most intriguing storylines. For many punters on UK betting apps, the starting point when choosing who to back for relegation will be to look at the three newly promoted teams. Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton were the three favourites for the drop before a ball had even been kicked, and it's easy to see why. Last season, this approach would have led you to all three of the relegated sides, with Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton all dropping back to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.

Everton survived last season, even with two separate points deductions, as did Nottingham Forest after their own points punishment. Considering they could beat the drop while being docked points, they'll fancy their chances of surviving the 2024/25 season, but they're still among the relegation contenders at UK betting sites having made a poor start to the season. Everton will be even more so with reports suggesting the Toffees will once again be docked points this season.

There are usually surprise teams dragged into the relegation dogfight. Last season, Brentford were that side. Having finished 13th and ninth in their two PL seasons up to that point, they seemed to be a safe, established side in England's top division. They managed just 39 points en route to a 16th-place finish and would have been in a lot more trouble had the teams below them not been so poor.

It might sound strange, but betting on Man City to be relegated this season has been a popular bet at some football betting sites. Some punters clearly feel there's a chance a massive points deduction could be coming for the Cityzens, and the odds on offer for them to be relegated are nowhere near what you might think they'd be.

Newly Promoted Teams Popular Choices To Go Back To Championship

Even though they topped the Championship last season, Leicester City have been the shortest-priced team in the relegation betting market since odds became available at top UK betting sites. This is partly to do with the fact that sides coming up from the Championship face an uphill battle, but also because there's a pretty decent chance they could face a points deduction for profit and sustainability breaches.

Ipswich and Southampton have also been among the favourites for Premier League relegation for quite some time. Ipswich will be hoping to keep hold of manager Kieran McKenna, who has stayed put despite being linked with some of the top jobs available. As for Southampton, they'll be hoping the 2024/25 season goes more smoothly for them than the 2022/23 season, when they finished bottom of the Premier League on 25 points.

Everton & Forest Hoping For Better Season Without Deductions

Things were a lot shakier throughout the second half of last season for Everton and Nottingham Forest than the final league standings would suggest. While they ended up avoiding relegation by 14 and six points, respectively, there was plenty of cause for concern among fans. New betting sites had each of the sides odds on at different stages of the season. Forest, in particular, will need to step up this season if they're to avoid a return to the Championship. Their 32 points last season would have seen them relegated most other seasons, and they benefitted from Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United not being good enough to capitalise.

Could Man City Be Relegated From The Premier League?

The short answer is probably not. At least based on performances on the pitch, there's no chance Manchester City could possibly be relegated from the Premier League. However, the outcome of the infamous 115 profit and sustainbility rules charges they may face could mean there's more to it than just performances on the pitch. At this point, it's not known if City will face any punishment, or what the punishment will be if they are found guilty.

As much as a 30-point deduction has been rumoured by some, and quite frankly, even that likely wouldn't be enough for Man City to face Premier League relegation. An even stiffer penalty could be a different proposition, but that, quite frankly, seems hugely unlikely. That hasn't stopped them from being a popular bet, though, with their pre-season relegation odds being pretty similar to some of the mid-table teams like Brighton and Crystal Palace.
