Jets QB Zach Wilson Rookie of Year Odds & Props To Consider

Bill Speros | 22 mins

Any examination of the Jets comes with a reminder of the first rule of NFL betting: “Never bet on the Jets.”
Even when you bet against the Jets, you will find a way to lose. That’s just the way it is.
Gang Green begins its latest rebuild this season with rookie Zach Wilson from BYU at quarterback. Wilson was a consensus top-three pick at top sportsbooks and betting sites before the draft. The Jets grabbed him at No. 2.
Wilson is part of a revival in the AFC East that now features a pair of 22-year-old (for now) QBs in Mac Jones of the Patriots and Wilson, 23-year old Tua Tagovailoa of the Dolphins and elder statesman Josh Allen of the Bills. He is 25. Jones celebrates his 23rd birthday on Sunday. Wilson enjoyed a stress-free training camp, put up solid numbers (going 15 for 20 with 191 yards and pair of TD passes in 42 preseason snaps) and made few mistakes.

What to Expect From Jets, Zach Wilson In 2021

As scary as this sounds, the Jets may have gotten it right with Wilson. They blew their chances in getting Trevor Lawrence with consecutive wins over the Rams and Browns late last season. Few of the key players who celebrated the victory over Cleveland on Dec. 27 are still with the team. Among the dearly departed: QB Sam Darnold (Carolina) and head coach Adam Gase (Lincoln High School, Ypsilanti, Michigan).
To no one’s surprise, there is little love for the Jets across NFL futures markets this season.
The Jets are pegged to continue their 50-plus year championship drought in 2021, according to oddsmakers for major betting apps. The Jets are +15000 in the latest Super Bowl odds. DraftKings has the Jets at +7500 to win the AFC ➜, and as the fourth choice at +2500 to win the AFC East ➜ behind Buffalo, Miami and New England.

Jets 2021 Win Total & To Make Playoffs Odds
The Jets 2021 win total predicts a three-fold increase over 2020.
Jets 2021 Win Total | Odds |
---|---|
Over 6 | +110 at DraftKings ➜ |
Under 6 | -105 at FanDuel ➜ |
Jets To Make The Playoffs | Odds | Yes | +550 at DraftKings ➜ |
No | -700 at FanDuel ➜ |
Odds via FanDuel ➜ and DraftKings ➜ and are current as of publication. Check out our FanDuel sportsbook and our DraftKings sportsbook reviews.
The Jets sit just outside the bottom-third of the NFL when it comes to strength of schedule and rank 19th based on their opponents’ combined 2020 winning percentage. Outside the division, their toughest road game will likely be at Indianapolis on Oct. 24 and against Carson Wentz, who should be back by then.
If the Jets can manage to win 2 or 3 games in the AFC East, they are a real threat to go over this win total. New head coach Robert Saleh brought in fellow former 49ers assistant Mike LaFleur to run the offense. After bringing in Wilson, the focus has been on solidifying the offensive line. We like the Jets to go over 6 wins at +110 with DraftKings ➜, but to miss the playoffs. However, a season-long play at at -700 with FanDuel ➜ makes little sense.
But remember, never bet on the Jets.
Wilson NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year Odds

Much of NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds market was significantly shaken up by the news of Mac Jones winning the QB1 job over Cam Newton in New England. However, Wilson’s number remained unchanged at +750 with DraftKings ➜. Here are the latest NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds:
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Trevor Lawrence | +400 at FanDuel ➜ |
Mac Jones | +600 at DraftKings ➜ |
Justin Fields | +750 at DraftKings ➜ |
Zach Wilson | +750 at DraftKings ➜ |
Trey Lance | +750 at DraftKings ➜ |
Najee Harris | +900 at FanDuel ➜ |
Kyle Pitts | +1100 at FanDuel ➜ |
Wilson will be given a short leash and no real opportunity to make big plays or big mistakes. The Jets are in no hurry. They are focused on the long-term. Jones has an edge here because he is playing for Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels. Take a pass here on Wilson winning Offensive Rookie of the Year Honors.

These numbers seem high for any rookie, especially one with an untested offensive and few proven options. Wilson has tremendous potential. But there are simply not enough options here to see him hitting either one of these numbers.
His total TDs is reachable, but there’s no value in the over. And his total yards are higher than the number on Jones, Lamar Jackson, Daniel Jones and Jalen Hurts. Even though we never bet on the Jets, take the under on 21.5 TDs at -115 at DraftKings ➜ and the under on 3,850.5 yards passing for Wilson at -112 with FanDuel. ➜
Breaking Down Zach Wilson ATS

Wilson made 28 career starts at BYU and amassed 7,652 yards passing and 56 TDs during his collegiate career. In 2020, he completed 73.5% of his attempts. Stellar numbers that he won’t see in New York for a while.
At BYU, Wilson went 21-11 overall and 11-1 last season. He and the Cougars went 7-4-1 against the spread in 2020. Meanwhile the Jets were 6-10 against NFL spreads last season, despite their 2-14 overall finish.
One last thing. Never bet on the Jets.
NFL Quarterbacks ATS
Long-suffering Jets fans who choose to ignore our warnings can legally bet on Gang Green in New York and New Jersey. By the season’s midway point, those in Connecticut should be able to partake in the misery, as well.
This is the 32nd and final story in our series examining all NFL starting quarterbacks against the spread. You can see the other QBs here:
Tom Brady | Ben Roethlisberger | Patrick Mahomes | Dak Prescott | Aaron Rodgers | Lamar Jackson | Jared Goff | Kyler Murray | Carson Wentz | Josh Allen | Teddy Bridgewater | Drew Lock | Daniel Jones | Ryan Fitzpatrick | Ryan Tannehill | Derek Carr | Tua Tagovailoa | Trevor Lawrence | Matt Ryan | Sam Darnold | Joe Burrow | Baker Mayfield | Kirk Cousins | Justin Herbert | Matthew Stafford | Russell Wilson | Jimmy Garoppolo | Andy Dalton | Jameis Winston | Mac Jones | Jalen Hurts | Tyrod Taylor
